Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 No idea of the date, but that's one Monstrously Huge Batboy!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I believe I see Kooz peeking out from the left of the dugout.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 And I think that's Tim 'Crazy Horse' Foli on the far right.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2015 Author Posted May 16, 2015 Yes to Crazy Horse and Kooz. But if 1979 was depicted in that photo, there'd be a last name on the back of the Mets jersey.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 No disrespect but that ain't 5/19/79 #50 in the dugout is not Andy Hassler.Next.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Lenny Randle scoring? Bob Boone catching?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 [crossout:vx1gvwge]4/17/78[/crossout:vx1gvwge]No, that's not right either.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Looks like Ted Simmons catching for the Cardinals.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 8/13/784th inning. Randle is on 2nd following a leadoff walk + SB tries to come home on a Bobby Valentine single but is thrown out by RF Jerry Mumphrey. And, yes, that's Ted Simmons.Coincidentally, the top of that very same inning ended when StL 1B Keith Hernandez was thrown out at home on a single to RF by Joel Youngblood.http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=2724&tabno=D

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I looked for Randle scoring against the Cardinals in a day game at home. Couldn't find any such occurrences, so I lied to myself and convinced myself that it was Taveras, even thought he was lighter skinned than Randle and usually wore a beard. It didn't occur to me to look for Randle getting thrown out, as Simmons doesn't seem to have received the ball yet.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 82 too early for those ugmo Pads unis too

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 Next....Hint: The Mets wore that style road uniform from '74 to '77. It's a road uniform because there are no pinstripes and the tone on Keith's uni inidicates white -- not powder blue. The only Mets infielders to wear #11 during that period were Wayne Garrett and Lenny Randle, and it ain't Wayne because the tone on the infielder's skin ain't no powder blue if you know what I mean. If it's Lenny, it's got to be 1977. Lenny was a two year Met, and in 1978, Lenny's second and last Met season, the Mets introduced their two button jerseys with sleeve piping, which that jersey ain't got.So it's a 1977 road game at St. Louis. You could tell it's a road game by the outfield wall in the background, also.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 This is a fun thread; I don't have the time to do research on this one because I'm running out to a meeting, but I love it.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I like this thread too but it's not really a guessing game, it's a looking-it-up game and so whenever I see a guess submitted I figure it's game over and don't play.
