I have foreseen it. And the fact that nothing else I've foreseen has come to pass shouldn't necessarily undermine that statement.

And keep him from being the 1,000th Met?

Bummer!

It's gotta be Matz. It's his ... destiny!

Shouldn't Thorsblot be on a Thursday?

But the 22nd means an extra day of rest for Harvey and deGrom, which I guess is part of the point. Don't forget Syndergaard is on the tighter innings limit though.

And that's still 3.5 starts away. situation could be exacerbated by an injury or trade.

If they're looking to ease him in, it might make sense to wait for the following series against the Phillies, though technically that'd be off-turn.

Are you a seer, also? I don't really go for the Thor stuff.

I said as much.

Cripes! I'm not predicting five months of complete games for the guy.

The tea leaves tell you other things than they tell me, I see.

I enjoy the Thor stuff. If we're not calling his curveball Mjlnir I don't know what we're doing anymore.

Not questioning your tea leaves. I prefer to read entrails though, I find the accuracy is a little better.

I just mean that I'm not sure it's effective to use a guy with a stricter inning cap to try to relieve the other guy's caps.

He'll be pitching anyhow.

the 23rd would be his day in Vegas so you're already bumping him up a day. But it's the minors and easier to bump guys for a day here and there, manage innings, pull guys, etc.

He was the winning pitcher today. 8 IP, 5 H, 2R, 0 BB, 8K. Ho hum.
He also had three hits, including a double and a home run.

Smoly crap, huh?

I would've encouraged them to call up an infielder for a few days beforehand, but... way to go, Mets. And... what a convenient little injury.

Exactly on both fronts. They don't need Noah until Tuesday so get another hitter--maybe they'll have a 15 inning game between now and then.

Or A-Rod.

I can't be the only one who's nervous about a pitching prospect making his MLB debut in Wrigley, can I?

Eh ... Wrigley's actually a much better pitching park than it's rep suggests.
That rep exists because on those days when it is good for hitters -- those infamous wind-blowing-out days -- it's REALLY GOOD. But, even though those days get all the headlines, they're decidedly in the minority, especially early in the season like this when you're more likely to get the opposite or a neutral kind of day.
If this were a day game in August I'd be more apt to be chewing fingernails with you.
