Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 No way. Set the pace. A torrid pace. Let the Nats try and keep up.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 The surging Phillies have crept past the Marlins into fourth place. I didn't see that coming a week ago.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 I agree that first place isn't gone. We're in striking distance!
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 On the one hand, it's still May, and the Mets are only one game out of first place. On the other hand, the Nationals, the unanimous pre-season choice for baseball's best team, now practically back to full strength, are on a 17-4 tear. True colors? And then there's this: http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2015/05/15/catch-us-were-falling/

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 Nats, for what it's worth (or werth), aren't really full strength. Fister's out 'til at least mid-June and Werth went down in the Yankee series. Rendon and McLouth haven't reappeared either. Not that my faith is in National health, but...

If the Nats being at full strength is bad news for the Mets, and the Nats not being at full strength is bad news for the Mets, I don't know what to say. Bad news for the Mets, I guess.Very obviously, Werth and Fister had not been out during the duration of that 17-4 stretch.
