Nine Mets were on the 25 man roster without ever getting into an actual Mets game. These nine --Jim Bibby, Randy Bobb, Billy Cotton, Gerry Moses, Terrell Hansen, Mac Suzuki, Justin Speier, Anderson Garcia and Ruddy Lugo, are technically, not considered Mets.

What about players who were on the active 40-man roster in September but never got into a game? I'm thinking of Al Reyes, September 2008.

So is there anyone on the current 40 man roster who hasn't been counted yet?

Gabriel Ynoa - 22 y/o RHP currently in Binghamton
Steven Matz - 24 y/o LHP who's due for a call up any day now, or not until next year, or anytime in between
Cesar Puello (OF) - although he's currently accruing ML service time while on the 60-day DL

amazing how easy it is to miss 1.1 of Mets reliever when you've got a 1 month old and are running on no sleep.

Puello is tecnically on the 40 man too, were he not on the 60day DL.

Josh Lewin clearly keeping tabs on this thread, introducing Logan Verrett as #998 all-time.

I can't believe that Gary hasn't been all over this march to 1K. Sounds like it's just his kind of thing.

This is fascinating. Not only is there no obvious candidate for the next Met call up, there's certainly anything but a guarantee that the Millennium Met will be a call up, drowning in trade talk as we are, there is no guarantee that the MM will be a call up.

The Yomohama DeNa Baystars of the NBL Central League have just dashed the hopes of one candidate for the coveted title of Millennium Met, signing away the most successful of Las Vegas' left-handed relievers, Duane Below.

Duane joins a Yokohama team that has recently ended a 12 game slide that has knocked them off their perch, but they still sit only three games off the pace in the Central.

For their part, the 51s fill the void in the bullpen ably with the recently activated Jenrry Mejia, allowed to "rehab" in the minors during the final weeks of his PED suspension.

Are there any more pitchers down on the farm to help boost the offense?

hold your horses! There's still the longshot chance someone sneaks in via trade or something in the meantime.

Plane? D-Dad envisioned the Mets giving him $20 and telling him to take NJ Transit from Trenton.

NJ Transit? Maybe he'll make it for tomorrow's game.

Does anyone know how to do an Astro count (including Colt 45s)? Are they ahead of us? Behind? About the same? It would be interesting to compare.

Cubs Clayton Richard was the 2000th Cub. (they're at 2002 now)

Anyone that didn't see my tweet want to guess on #1000? How about the year?
