First televised game of the season (SNY) and the triumphant (let's hope) return of Matt Harvey to game action.

I will be at work and recording it, to watch with Fboy on the DVR after dinner tomorrow night. Ah, sweet, sweet televised Mets baseball.

I'm not ashamed to say it: it's just mid-morning, and I'm partially Harvey-rect.

(Maybe I should be ashamed to say it.)

Something like a high-end lineup out there.

  1. Gose, cf
  2. Iglesias, ss
  3. Davis, lf
  4. Castellanos, 3b
  5. Lennerton, 1b
  6. Holaday, c
  7. Fields, dh
  8. Romine, 2b
  9. Avery, rf

Price, sp
  1. Lagares, cf
  2. Granderson, rf
  3. Wright, 3b
  4. Cuddyer, 1b
  5. Murphy, 2b
  6. d'Arnaud, dh
  7. Mayberry, lf
  8. Flores, ss
  9. Recker, c

Harve, sp
DETROIT

=#0040FF]NEW YORK

Both sides flail fecklessly in the first.

Lennerton and his Lincoln beard get blown away. Harvey seems to be staying within himself.

Both teams have a Castellanos.

Well, that was perfect. Seemed to try too hard with a 99-MPH fastball on his next-to-last pitch, and OF COURSE dropped the hammer for strike three on his next pitch.

Syndertime.

Couldn't have scripted a more promising and impressive
first two innings of post-surgical pitching!

yup.

Maybe it's running fast. Howie said he the stadium gun read 104 on the second pitch.

Watching on slight delay. Harvey looked pristine.

Familia still flaking on throwing to the bases.

d'Arnaud still letting the high sailer get away from him.

Shot on the bench of Bobby Parnell sucking on the end of his beard.

Familia not having trouble with his pickoff move, though.

Gameday sez Travis is DH'ing.

Unless 'letting the high sailer get away from him' is code for something Daniel Murphy wouldn't like.

I had Gorgeous catching in my lineup too (I guess I got it from Gameday.) But it was d'Arnaud

Here are some words that strike terror in few
    Tejada to Flores to Soup
A trio of Mets that just failed to turn two
    Tejada to Flores to Soup
Ruben's delivery was up by the eye
The transfer was spiked then as Wilmer let fly
Did Campbell catch it? I can't help but sigh
    Tejada to Flores to Soup

Meanwhile the Tiggs just turned their second-screw-everything-up-but-still-succeed double play in as many innings.

This Duran guy is an asset against lefties. Hides the ball in his back pocket until his delivery.
