1-2-3 inning for Ike. Went out and closed 3 bars afterward I hear.

In the boxscore I noticed one of the Angels relievers was rookie Cam Bedrosian, son of Steve.

So hard drinking' Ike is doing all right for himself out in Oakland: .314/.380/.443, though just one HR and is in a strict platoon situation - just 4 ABs vs LHP all year.
But Oakland itself is having a tough time: 9-14 though losing some tough games as they're +13 in RS/RA to date and Pythag sez they should be more like 13-10.

So on those two notes, Ike comes up in the bottom of the ninth last night, facing tough closer Huston Street, A's down by one, 2 outs, bags loaded, deep drive to CF ... and he's gets 'Trout-ed'

Prentice Redman, who you may remember from such films as "2003? Two-Thousand Me!" and "Howe Great Thou Art, Skip" is playing for the Long Island Ducks.

Gonzalez Germen is not sure which army he's marching in.

  • December 19, 2014: Purchased by the New York Yankees from the New York Mets.
  • January 20, 2015: Purchased by the Texas Rangers from the New York Yankees.
  • January 23, 2015: Selected off waivers by the Chicago Cubs from the Texas Rangers.
  • July 7, 2015: Selected off waivers by the Colorado Rockies from the Chicago Cubs.

Welcome to the Rockies, Gonzo. Baseball purgatory for relief pitchers.

Blaine Boyer goes on the Twins' DL. For that to happen, Blaine Boyer had to have been a Twin. Thought Blaine Boyer had been inactive since the Mets jettisoned (or Mettisoned) him in 2011. Didn't pitch in the majors in 2012 or 2013. Was briefly a Padre last year. Was a fairly active Twin this year.

Go figure.

Jose Reyes clears waivers in Colorado. Let the mumbo jumbo trade rumor bullshit begin.

I love the guy like a cousin, but unless they're paying virtually all of his freight, we should steer clear of the guy like he's the empty subway car at rush hour.

I love him as much as I love your cousin, and I agree. Taking on the final years of that backloaded contract, without having had the benefit of the less expensive early years (and the younger Jose) doesn't make any sense at all.

Jose Valverde, released from the minors by the Nationals last month, has been suspended for PEDs. So if somebody signs him, he'll automatically be out 80 games.

Smooth.

Chris Young the outfielder signs multi-year (how many is multi? I dunno) deal with the Red Sox.

Man, what a case. The Mets were dead right on his redemptability but dead wrong about their capacity to be the agents of redemption.
