Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 OH YEAAAAA! Peeeeeeeerfrect throw.Hunter Pence sucks moose gonads without a bib.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 Well that inning could have been a whole lot worse - and certainly looked like it was going to be.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Pegging today's game as "brazo a brazo"-- nice one, Gary. Not as nice as a one-pitch tailor-made-DP, but still, nice.Hunter Pence thinks the quintessential Van Halen is the Gary Cherone Van Halen. Edited August 4, 2014 by Guest
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 And THERE goes Terry, for absolutely nothing.Hey, at least this rookie home-plate umpire isn't a cop-- he strikes me as the kind of guy who might accidentally shoot a speeding motorist during a traffic stop.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 My Gamecast tells me Duda has been ejected. For real? Did he sulk in an offensive way?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Ha. "That attitude is NOT helpful... YER OUTTA HERE!"Collins went, for arguing balls and strikes. Without (much) obscenity. From the dugout.

That was messed up. So he was yelling from the dugout. Big deal. Wussy ump.Hunter Pence has a sixth sense.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Don't know that I like this pitching change. With two out and none on Edgin can handle a light-hitting RHB at the bottom of a lineup, especially when the team is already three relievers deep.I mean, geez, the Giants left their LOOGY in to face Dabid in a similar situation. Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 Sergio Romo in for Giants. Their former, but now demoted, closer has been very hittable lately.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 EYoung in for CYoung - actually in for the pitcher so he'll lead off.We might need two innings out of Mejia today.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I personally don't like Mejia for the 9th in a 3-3 game at home. Hunter Pence and George Theodore somehow share the same DNA.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 Hunter Pence just signed up for a MySpace account
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Considering that Pence was fouling off Jenrry's good stuff, a long flyout was about the best we could hope for there.Hunter Pence prays for his fantasy football team to win this week.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Anyway, I really don't see the logic of holding your closer until there's a save situation.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 This is like back to the early part of the season where the first two batters of the game score but then only once more over the next 3-1/2 hours.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Frustrating game. At least it wasn't scorching hot out at the park. Lots of Giants fans in attendance but they were well-behaved.From my perspective, either Lagares or Young would have been able to catch that ball but not both of them at the same time. As always, I blame the fielder not yielding to the centerfielder. When Wright was arguing, he tossed his bat, helmet and wristbands. The latitude he got suggested to me that the umpire knew it was a bad call. When Duda actually argued a bit as well, it seemed pretty clear we were getting squeezed. They could've won 3 of 4 this series and only got one. Not good at all.

COULD HAVE caught it, sure. But it would have been a real nice play by either one of them. Also more Young's ball than Lagares's so it's tough to ask him to just back off at that point and assume that Juan is going to make a backhand snag while doing a Spiderman leap against the wall. And that's all assuming CY even knew where JL was in the first place. When Wright was arguing, he tossed his bat, helmet and wristbands. The latitude he got suggested to me that the umpire knew it was a bad call. When Duda actually argued a bit as well, it seemed pretty clear we were getting squeezed.Three clearly low pitches were called strikes. The Wright & Duda ones were both strike threes while Murphy also took one and barked about it that was earlier in the count so less devastating..They could've won 3 of 4 this series and only got one. Not good at all.The sticks went 8 for 83 over the first three games, and then today both top relievers couldn't get through an inning unscathed. Tough to win that way.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Lousiest loss of the year from my perspective. Really tough to be leaning on the pitching so much that the offense completely checks out of a four-game homecoming series.
