Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Remember that it's 7:00 tonight (I have no idea why the 6 PM local start time). We need this one. Losing 2 of 3 in Chicago is a lost opportunity, getting swept would be an embarrassment. Muffy gets the day off which is probably good ... but not if it results in our worst hitter leading off.Hell, I'd bat deGrom there before Cy Oung. Plus Terry misses the chance to put the three little d's in the same lineup.C Young - CFGranderson - RFWright - 3BCampbell - 1BBrown - LFFlores - 2BTejada - SSd'Arnaud - CdeGrom - PBuddy Carlyle has been DFA'd to make room for the return of Brown - so we've not only got a bigger bench as of now but also 3 LHPs in the pen.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 FYI, I'm at the game. Behind the Cubs dugout in the third section back in the shade.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I want deGrom to get a win. Yea, now's a great time to field that line-up. [ /]sarcasm meterLine-up, please make a fool out of me and score a dozen runs for the kid.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I coulda caught that, Mr. CYoung. Tsk tsk.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Wow. He may have been safe. Great throw Brown but only if he stays out. Man advances to 2nd on the throw.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Could get reversed, but I think the glove brushed his wrist as he reached across.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Crapcicles. Called safe. I would have wanted to challenge the DP thing but that did look too close to risk. And Wood takes deGrom yard. YOW!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Nope says the ruling. Do you think the evidence says he was conclusively safe? And the homer suddenly makes it a three-run reversal.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Cubs announcers were surprised that Terry didn't challenge the safe call at first base on the attempted double-play. On replay it did look like it should have been an out call.If that call had been reversed, the Cubs wouldn't have scored any of their three runs.

In other words, a perspective showing some space between the glove and the guy. I didn't see that so I didn't think they'd reverse it.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 The replays I saw on the Chicago telecast looked very much like the runner's hand touched the plate before there was any tag. I was fully expecting that reversal.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 It's a pitchers' hitting exhibition. Losing ballz in the ivy like Dave Kingman.

It would have been a risk. It was a crucial DP tho. One of those possible game changers for a pitcher.deGrom doubles, lol. I love this kid.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 They've been using Lucas Duda's photo for deGrom on the scoreboard. Looks like he's hitting and pitching like it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 Flores is a couple inches away from 4 RBIs here tonight.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Shit. I missed whatever happened that inning. It does not read well.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 What does that Campbell K make it now, 1 for their last 91 w/RiSP or something like that?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Well, that puts the stupid to my question.Should we be letting Brown hit here?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 DOWNTOWN!Keep the stupid coming, please.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 How AWESOME!!! Follow me, guys!Should we be letting Flores bat here?

RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Someone started a little "lets go mets" this inning. Seems to have helped a bit.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Second City cast members sing better than most.
