Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Y'know, if you're looking to start a pesky, speedy leadoff guy who gives you less-than-zero with the leather, Terry, you could do a lot worse than Bobby Abre--[Has CVA]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Two outs, but come on, Murph(Don't pull this guy, Mattingly.)

Robbed the store and he didn't even have any bullets in his gun.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Welcome back, Edgin.Ccould you help us out here?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Of all the pitchers you could use here, Edgin's definitely one of them.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 On the plus side...USA Network: Modern Family (TV-PG): Gloria insists on a night of salsa dancing with Jay; Cameron goes too far when Mitchell and a friend challenge him to get a hot woman's (Leslie Mann) number; Phil builds a tree house. Sounds like a good one!
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Gotta love 4 hour (and over) games that suck.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 There's still a chance Muffy comes up as the winning run and strikes out.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 If family fare isn't your thing...FX: Fargo (TV-MA): Malvo executes his master plan; Lester attempts to craft a plan of his own; Gus and Molly team up in Duluth. "Never less than entrancing..." -Robert Bianco, USA Today

Sounds like a good one!I coulda been watchin Fargo.Hey, I like the Grandy/Duda outburst. It's nice to see an inning like that. Now if we can get Wright to just play par and Murph to not get un-hot we may be able to roll a lil bit. Both killed us tonight.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 We also need the exy-cution. Clean, effective defense and baserunning. Murph's throw to the plate with the infield in was something of a horror show. And I hope he isn't already un-hot.He seems more selective this year. I'm too lazy to see if that means fewer walks, but he isn't even cocking when the fastballs come in off the plate inside and outside. As to whether he's laying off the breaking pitches at the ankles, I am agnostic.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Josh Edgy was definitely in his field of vision when he tried to make that play.David Wright is very sick and it's infecting everyone.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 (edited) Murph's walk rates are somewhat UP this year (.050) as compared to his career norms (.043), although still considerably below where league averages tend to sit (.065 - .070).Not sure what it all means. As to whether he's laying off the breaking pitches at the ankles, I am agnostic.Murphy? He's got a 7.7 BB% this season, up from his career 6.2%. His K% is about the same, .6 lower than career which given the growing K climate might actually be a significant amount. BABIP is roughly the same. Fangraphs has him as positive value defensively, offensively, and baserunningly. (though I don't really put much/any stock in defensive numbers in May) 28.4% LD rate over his 22.7% career. A few more balls on the ground as compared to fly balls. He's seeing a few more 2-seam fastballs and a few less changeups. Most of Murphy's hit-value has come on a variety of baseballs in his career. This year is much the same except he's gotten no value off of sliders like he has occasionally in the past. This is probably because he's swinging at 6% less pitches out of the zone compared to career. He's actually swinging less in general which means he's getting fewer swinging strikes while making contact with about the same amount of pitches. So yeah, I guess he's being more selective.

He's responsible for himself. That macho posturing is all well and good, but it doesn't change the fact that you don't have a clear target to throw to. So yeah, I'm going to agree with your implication and say the bulk of the blame lies with the bulk of Edgin's ass.But execution is a team thing. I guess Edgin's conditioned instinct is to run to first when the ball is hit toward the first baseman. That's generally good, but it certainly hurt last night.Hmmm... how to get Wright right... .
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I went to bed after Wilson and his 9.something ERA went 1-2-3 in the 8th. Ugly.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 Wilson was a disaster. We had four lefties up against him too. He had these jive-ass non-breaking sliders missing away over and over.Murphy needs to explain himself for striking out against that garbage.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
