Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Chase Coleman (C.C. ) Whitley makes his debut for the Yankees taking C.C. Sabathia's startagainstJacob Anthony deGrom who makes his debut for the Mets and went to C.C. (Calvary Christian) Academy. Mets drafted deGrom in 2010, 9th round. Yankees took Whitley in the 15th round of the same draft. Whitley has been primarily a starter in the minors, though he's started 6/7 this year. I went back tosee if they ever faced each other, but they didn't spend time in the eastern league at the same time. Whitley has been in AAA the last two years.deGrom is 6/34 as a batter with 1 HR in the minors.Whitley is unsure of which end of the bat is up. deGrom has make 2 errors, Whitley has made none.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Juan Centeno [.273/.348/.338 at Vegas] "is en route" to Queens based on the fact that Travis d'Arnaud is experiencing "concussion-like symptoms" and may have to go on the DLMejia will be tonight's closer, "why not use the guy who's freshest" says Terry, but he has not committed to handing him that role permanently even though he believes over time that that's where he could eventually wind up.If we felt he was ready to go back-to-back days, possibly three days in a row, he would be the guy. But he is not at that stage yet, Collins said.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 The idea that he feels compelled to announce who the closer is before a game is at least a little silly.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 Edgy MD wrote:The idea that he feels compelled to announce who the closer is before a game is at least a little silly.Well, they asked..But all it does is reflect what he's thinking at the moment. come the 9th he may decide something else. Or we'll have an 189 run lead and it won't matter.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Travis, if he goes on the DL, would likely go on the special seven-day "concussion" DL.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I thought EYJ did enough to play his way out of the lineup today..
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 And Flores has been completely buried. I don't get it.(added) especially on a night when a stiff like Ceteno is in the lineup.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 What a great message to our backup catcher. And no Lags again! WTF?A split will not do it guys. I want 3 of 4 here. Take this series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Beltran to the DL, maybe for a long while.Amazing how the Cardinals lucked into two full years from Carlos. He misses large chunks of several seasons w/the Mets, then goes to StL and hardly misses a game in his mid-30s while getting 650+ PAs/year.Then they let him go and suddenly his knee is barking on him again and there'll be a big chunk blown out of this season and a really big one if surgery is required.Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Maybe they employ a 12th-level cleric?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I figure the way to do this right and get it over with is to go whole hog. Oversell it the way he's been oversold to us his whole career.Ladies and gentlemen, if you will kindly direct your attention to the scoreboard in right center field, the Mets would like to present a video tribute to Derek Sanderson Jeter. For 18 season, Mr. Jeter has represented everything that is good about the Yankees, baseball... LIFE, really. His near two decade career has eclipsed those of such Yankee greats as Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, Dimaggio, AND Balboni, and made them all look frankly silly. He came into the game during a pitching-dominated era, and established new offensive heights no one thought possible. If it doesn't seem like that in the record books, remember, he MADE EVERYONE ELSE BETTER.EVERYONE. You, me... Alec Fuckin' Baldwin... we're all better for his time among us. His fielding was frankly unfair to the opposition, and if it lookde like he was wearing ankle weights out there at times, he probably was, because he is the soul of graciousness.Apart from his unprecedented escapades on the baseball field, Jeter has donated billions to local charities. He is further known for his impeccable taste in himes, his award winning sculpture, and his firm commitment to chastity.Ladies and gentlemen, the man Fortune magazine called the greatest inspirational leader since Henry V... whatshisname... Number 2!!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 So Centeno caught deGrom in Vegas.Whoop-di-doo.Well, at least we have a handsome bench tonight.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 To be fair, when I think of a big Number 2, I often think of Derek Jeter.Lagares would've wrangled that.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Good thing we are in Citi, huh? Two of them might have been out of YSIII.I think deGrom looks good. Keep it down and relax son.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 If you're going to hit all the balls to first, at least make Teixiera move his butt, guys.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 A lot of folks go after Wright with two strikes by giving him fastballs away. Lay off of that shit, David.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Smooooooooth DP deGrom. That should settle him.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Mom, can Jake deGrom come to my birfday party?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 When deGrom turns sideways all I see is a ball of hair on a stick.
