MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The biggest traitor was Lee Mazzilli. We will never forget.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I never knew Bill Robinson was a Yankee.I have trouble seeing how Kingman and Mazzilli got on cards as Yankees, considering the brevity of their tenures.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I must've blocked out Walt Terrell's MFY career.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Yeah, I should have assumed from the photo quality that it was DIY. Mazzilli's is realio, though?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 George Vecsey remembering Bill Robinson in MFY clothing:The Yankees envisioned Bill Robinson as that kind of force, trading Clete Boyer, their nimble third baseman, to get Bill to play right field for the 1967 season. Michael Burke, one of the grandest executives in sports, could not curb his enthusiasm, and somehow the title of the black Roger Maris was foisted on Robinson, expectations he could not fulfill. In a sport of failure, Robinson hit .196 and .240 and .171 with the Yankees. I have never seen a player fail with more dignity.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 That "Stengal"-Torre card is...unfortunate.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 That "Stengal"-Torre card is...unfortunate.Indeed.Wondering whether any player had ever played for more big league teams in a single season than Kingman, I found out the answer, apparently is no. Nine players besides Kingman have played for four big league teams in a single summer, but one of them was property of a fifth team (for whom he did not take the field) as well.Name that player.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Gerald Williams doesn't appear to think much of Mike Stanton, either.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Doc and Coney no-no'n as Yanks was... unfortunate.
