Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Didn't we just play these scrubs? Whatever, just as long as we keep missing Jose Fernandez.Tonight: Niese v. Nathan Eovaldi
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 We did just play them although we have to do so this time in Miami where oddly they become an entirely different offensive team despite what seems to be a pitcher-firendly park.Record: H = 14-5 R = 2-10Hitting: H = .307/.370/.495R = .215/.287/.333RS/G: H = 6.16 R = 2.67XBH:H = 3.79/GR = 1.92/GI know it's a small sample but those gaps are ridiculous. It's like they're the Bizarro-Mets.Hell, they even somehow manage to strike out 35% less often: 7.21/G vs 11.17/GThey also pitch better at home [2.86 ERA vs 4.66] although that could at least partially explained by Jose Fernandez making 5 of his 7 starts at home so far (I wonder how many adjustments that team will make to skew things so that he gets the majority of his starts at home considering the effect it has on their attendance?).
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I can enjoy the conspiracy theories as much as anyone when it gives me a reason to berate my opponent. The Dodgers accused the Marlins of stealing signs, even suggesting they've got a camera in that Home Run Thingie. [crossout:37dji46c]They're also 14-5 at home and 2-10 on the road.[/crossout:37dji46c] (what he said)Gary Cohen, when mentioning the story, hinted that the Rockies might do something in the christmas tree forest out in CF. So let's see if the Marlins look like a different team shall we? (I think they'll destroy 'em honestly)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Should be fun times in the NL East this week with all teams within 1.5 games from top to bottom. Anyone can go from 1st to last or vice versa inside of two days.So as we're battling it out in south Florida, Atlanta host the (currently .500) Cardinals, Philly welcomes the Jays, Nationals get the Dodgers in DC

Need at least four of these six.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 The Mets can separate themselves from previous seasons by squishing the fish..

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Uh, that's not a good defensive outfield. And check out Q getting back-to-back starts!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Terry must have reason to think that Eovoldi is more vulnerable against LHBs as Wright & d'Arnaud are the only RHBs in the lineup. But, yeah, that's a big outfield down there for the likes of Abreu and not your best CF

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 The Rube sez:Lefties hitting .325, righties .127 vs. Eovaldi, which I suppose explains Abreu/Q over C Young/Tejada. #mets
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Muffy makes his presence known with a shot, and Grandy decides to emulate him. 2-0 in the top of the first!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Guess there might be something to those splits!Murphy HRGranderson HRCurtis now has three times as many homers as David Wright.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Three more of those tonight, and Curtis will exit the Interstate in style.Their righties against our lefties-- might as well call tonight's game Platoon 2.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Niese strikes out Stanton. Nice start.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Some fine hit-scattering from Mr. Niese, who's looking very much in control. The pitch count-- 56 through 3-- is of mild concern.Back-to-back hits to lead off? The Lefties have to hang something crooked on Eovaldi here.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Or, y'know, that.I did think Duda tagged that one harder, alas.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Would have liked to see more than one run out of four hard-hit balls there in the top of the 4th butwhatcanyado?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 MLB.TV was not functioning earlier. I was positive Jack Bauer was behind this. Some kind of ploy so I'd have nothing to watch but his show. But its fixed. MUhahahaHAHAH!I'll watch the show later Jack.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Lil bad luck for Doodoo who murdered that ball after falling back 0-2.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 I say it takes about 100 ABs before a Mets pitcher gets a hit. I'll also throw my bet in the pool that the first pitcher hit is a home run.

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Oops - I didn't see Gwreck's previously started thread.Mods feel free to nuke or merge this one.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Call this guy All Or Nothing At Eo-vall: we're either hitting walls or hitting air agin' him.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I thought this was the foreign language IGT.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Who says EYj can't field?(that might have been a tad overacting by Young)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Let's chase him this inning. The magic edge teams need to appreciate: chasing the starter early in the first game of a series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Who says EYj can't field?(that might have been a tad overacting by Young)It's not that EYJ can't field (or even that he over does it) it's just that he often plays so deep that he needs his speed to make up for it and makes catches like that more necessary than maybe they ought to be.
