Number 14? Really?

When I was at the game on Saturday, I noticed that the ballboy (and presumably the batboys) had BB on their backs instead of 14, which makes sense. At what point did they stop wearing the current year on their uniforms?

As someone on Twitter mentioned, it's a good night to give Josh & Howie a try.

Is something going on that will make the TV booth unappealing, or is it just the prospect of the misbegotten unis?

I imagine it's just the unis.

That is positively insulting to all who served or who are currently serving our country.

The Padres have equally ugly uniforms. In fact, a lot of teams are doing the ugly-camo thing.

The Mets earn extra-ugly points for copying a stupid trend. They can't even think up their own ugly shit.

I guess I don't mind the scoreboard and the uniforms, either. I do think one could debate whether the Jackie Robinson tribute night uniforms count as a separate uniform.

It's the same uniform.

I object to the concept of the camo uniforms more than the look of it. If you're going to start doing non-baseball type stuff like that, then I want to see a Spiderman themed uniform or something. Or bring back silly Mercury Mets type ideas.

A Spider-Dude-themed uniform brings advertising onto the uni in a distinctly new way that brings us across the Rubicon.

It's only a matter of time before they are the Sanyo Mets. I'd like to stay that execution as long as possible.

yeah, maybe not clearly sponsorship ones. Maybe. I dunno, some of the silly stuff minor league teams seem fun. I know no one gets up in arms at that stuff because it's minor league ball, but it is a game after all.

but the Mercury Mets (brought to you by Ford) Robot Mets. etc.

Have some fun with it.
