METS ON TOP!

I can't remember the last time I saw such a good-looking hit.

I'm totally buying into the church of Trout and was sure he was going to snag that Recker hit ... and was convinced he was going to steal the Duda HR earlier on for that matter.

I heard this reliever, Michael Kohn, is tough ... but his brother Ghengis, now there was a nasty pitcher.

Tying run on base? The Best Player In Baseball coming up?

No problem, kiddies-- Carlos Torres remains... THE Competent Mets Reliever. And his slider is a soother.

I don't want to say that these DPs wouldn't have been turned with Ruben in there ... but given his play of late I'm not so sure they would have been.
All that last one would have taken is a split second hesitation and suddenly inning over morphs into tying run on 1st w/Prince Albert coming up.

So how often do you suppose that this Jepsen reliever gets teased that his manager will 'call him maybe' about coming in to the game?

The walks ratio is completely flipped tonight.
OK it's not 10-0 like it was in game 1 of this series, but it is 6-1, in the Mets favor this time, and not surprisingly it's making a huge difference.

and now an HBP

And that close-and-late clutchitude is a little salt in any wound opened up by Q's defensive performance, innit?

Yup.
Not that I think in the long run that Q is going to be more of an offensive force than Tejada, but I am starting to wonder about a defensive gap being more permanent.

A shortstop who could also lead off makes so much sense for this team, especially if you are expecting C Young to contribute starting next week.

Perhaps Gregorious leaves PHX with us.

Yeah, nice to see Ruben playing with confidence out there.

Except that it's Q out there tonight.

It's late. I wrote one while staring at the other.
