Gah. Heyward worked that at bat, and that last pitch was fatter than Colon.

0-1 Them

Obi Juan Lagares is our only hope.

Yup. Hard to believe Ron & Gary are talking as though EYJ is doing so well it'd be difficult to unseat him.

Is there anyone else walking past the stadium in Atlanta that they'd like to sign so he can come in and toss a shutout? The peanut vendor maybe?
I know it's only the 2nd week but, after losing Hudson to FA, they lose two more starters in ST plus have a couple more still on the mend from last year, and yet their starting staff is currently leading the majors in lowest ERA, OBA, and WHiP

Well they finally got Heyward out.
But I think that's only because he was secretly replaced between innings by Justin Heyward and, seeing as how the former front of the Moody Blues has got to be nearly 70 y/o by now, getting him out isn't all that impressive. Plus he's English and probably never even played baseball.

It may be time for the Dana Eveland Era to begin.

That stuff will drive ya crazy.

Saw the first few innings. Didn't think Ervin could keep it up.

Has Santana been pitching that good or are we doing some extra sucking at the plate?

Of COURSE Lannan gave up the leadoff hit. I was wary of his soft-tossing, MFY-loving ass before ST, I was wary of it at the end of ST, and I'm about sick of it two weeks in. He's had one half-decent year in his career, pitches to loud contact, and is a low-strikeout/highish-walk dude. What's not to love? What I'm trying to say is, JOHN LANNAN MAKES ME INTO ASHIE.

And in other shouty news, GONZALEZ GERMEN ONLY MAKES LOUD OUTS AND STRIKEOUTS!

Accentuating the positive, though... how about my boy I'm-Still-Calling-Him-HYOO-Rees, with two runnerless, bang-on-the-table-for-some losing-effort Schaeffer frames?

And I do like those glimpses of the Braves HoF, with the simulated-locker thing for your Horners and Murphys. Something like that might be a decent way to repurpose the CitiField Steiner Brothers Memorial Used Batting Helmet Room.

We're in biz now. Nice leadoff base on balls.

Well it's not like Santana is a bad pitcher or anything, but the Braves were forced into having 3 of their first 8 games started by guys who weren't even employed by a major league team three weeks ago and all they've done so far is give up 1 run over 21 innings

I'm surprised that Santana wasn't given the chance to complete the game. Wussies.

Wright singles. 2 on, 1 out.

Ugh crap, Kimbrel.

He signed late in the spring, they probably figure he is still stretching out

Santana probably limited somewhat, though I would've left him in. Glad they didn't..let's see if they've got some magic..
