Reds-Royals game in Surprise canceled after Aroldis Chapman throws a 99-mph-fastball and it gets lined right back to his face. Chapman collapsed but remained moving while he was being attended to.

I've got to think this is going to be a watermark moment in the evolution toward armoring pitchers' heads.

(Where's that cliche thread? Oh well)
And the batting coach praised the batter for "Just hitting the ball up the middle, like we've been telling him to do".

Hope he's OK.

Yeah, I expected to read the word "fracture" or "fractures" before the day was out. Better facial instead of cranial, I guess.

it happened so fast, there was nothing to do to stop it. I saw an article on Bryce Florie just a week ago, he wasn't ever the same and remains a vagabond.

I've resisted my curiosity thus far.

Reds so far are reporting contusion(s) and lacerations.

I didn't.

The video I saw wasn't of the highest quality, but still... shudder-worthy. The most horrific part, honestly, is the collective gasp.

Bruce Beck showed it with fair warning, it was sickening ......I wonder what if any effect this has on him mentally.

Just saw this. Very scary.

A custom card guy named Patrick made this.

I like the card & concept. Too soon? Nah. Cards should reflect the game, the more timely the better.

Of course it reminds me of Matlack in '73. Just finished colorizing this the night before it happened. Freaky.
