2014 IPP: John Lannan

It was moderately popular last year, so we'll try it again this year. IPP stands for Individual Player Predictions. These will be threads where we share our expectations of how a player will perform in the current year. Feel free to make your predictions as specific or as vague as you like. Last one for today.

I think John Lannan will end up third in line for the fifth starter position, behind Mejia and Matsuzaka. He'll start the season in Las Vegas, and may never make it to Flushing at all. If he does, I'll say three starts, three relief appearances.

I don't see him getting more than 5 appearances for the Mets.

Rolls high in Vegas, hits it in June with an injury to Gee or Dice-K, doesn't do much to stick.

I see him as getting both starts and relief appearances, and probably more of the latter.

This year's Carlos Torres. Long guy, occasional start, spends most of his time spitting sunflower seeds in the bullpen. A couple of wins and ERA around 4.

Makes the team as a long reliever/spot 6th starter and does decently, giving the Mets 80 IP and a 3.70 ERA.

Other than that this guys future is a big ? to me.
