G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Chris Capuano, he who ate innings adequately in 2011, will reportedly tie on the bib and attempt to gobble 'em up for the Red Sox in 2014 not by way of the ever-popular minor league deal but an actual MLB contract. You may recall the Sox tried to buy Caps (as one of our U.K. readers liked to call him) with about a week to go the season they collapsed.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I watching SNY last night, Piazza MHOF show and got to thinking about Jason Phillips , as one does at times, searched online and found out he has been the Mariners bullpen catcher for a few years now...I didn't know that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Was bullpen catcher for the Dodgers before that.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Fair play to him, not much running involved which is good. Probably makes 100K??
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Yeah, but a lot of squatting. He's only 37, so I guess he can handle it. If I were to get a job as bullpen catcher at my age (50), I'd probably have to do it sitting in a lawn chair.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 That happened to me once, at Joshua Tree Park in California. The spines of the cactus went through the sole of my sneaker and also through the sides. I had to sit down and pull each one out of my foot and out of my sneaker. I suppose that's one of the perils of training in Arizona. Better to train in Florida, where the worst thing you can step on is an alligator.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Well, that would probably make his injury a lot worse than mine was. If I recall, I was just limping for a few hours.
