Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 They said the Tigers have no lefty starters. In the bullpen, the Tigers have Smyly (pitched earlier that inning), Alvarez and Coke, all lefties.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Ah, thanks......I thought at the time it made little sense....taking out Sherzer was a mistake I thought.

And I thought they would have to do that. I'd have left him in myself, using my bump strategy. And he would have had probably three bumps. That was a quick hook. I think 108 pitches is of no concern in the post season. Boston didn't even have to knock him out. Leyland surrendered him.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 What a game....this is shaping up to be a great series.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I'll personally thank Big Papi for not dropping an F-bomb there.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Can you believe I turned in after Victorino whiffed vs Alberquerque.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 omg, what a play.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Through these two games the BoSox sent 69 batters to the plate.- the first 61 registered [u:37daoje7]2 hits and 30 strikeouts[/u:37daoje7] plus 8 walks + an HBP while scoring 1 run - the final 8 made only 2 outs (1 via K) while scoring 5 times on 5 hits plus a walk.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 The cop in the bullpen is the best. He's celebrating more than anyone and when Hunter crashes to the ground he gives way to the players, then decides his best role is to make sure the door is open after it's already opened. The whole time he never loses his grip on the snack (peanuts? Seeds?) in his fist.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 It's like the cop and Hunter are partners in some sort of odd synchronized cheerleading competition.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Bullpen Cop is already becoming a meme.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 If that were actually the case, I'd venture to say they're less Rogers-Astaire, more Taylor-Burton.Hunter added: "I wish I would have kicked him in his face." That was all said in jest. I think.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Brilliant photography , I bet the cop has that framed and hanging already.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 First inning, Red Sox go down in order and Tigers get two hits but fail to score. Me watching Gameday at work and clicking refresh when it doesn't update fast enough.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The thing about Gameday is that it really makes you wonder about some things, like why Justin Verlander had two pickoff attempts of the slow of foot Big Papi. Jonny Gomes has a 10-pitch at bat but strikes out anyway and the Red Sox remain hitless in the 2nd.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Power outage in Detroit, and it's not the Red Sox bats.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I don't think it's the Sox batters, but the guys throwing the pitches to them. They're GOOD!

Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 6 straight Ks for Verlander. He's GOOD!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 That one almost snuck outta there for a kaboomer. Both V and Lacky are pitching great.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 If they can somehow survive Verlander with the game tied (or better), I think the Sox take the series.But... that leadoff double hurts.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 This post season pitching overall has been a surprising treat. I'm glad I'm not emotionally invested in these games.
