Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I like the way Ronnie pauses in between words when he wants to drive home a point with dramatic effect.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I never really thought about it until seeing the Oz.gif ...but if some pond scum Met ever behaved like that a lotof people would be all over his acrobatic ass for being tooshowy or whatever.I had Cards in six. Go Redbirds!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Meh, I've seen better catches. I've seen him make better catches. It didn't suck.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Puig is gonna make such a great scapegoat.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 This is all Kershaw though. He's pitching like poop. Watcha's quietly pitching a 1 hitter. Adams doubles in the 5th Redbird run.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Dodgers have been amazingly inept.- Puig has misplayed or mis-thrown three balls- Gozalez dropped a relay throw on Puig's short throw- Kershaw wasn't backing up his long one- they botched the run-down and almost lost the out- Ellis had either a DP ball or a play at home and got neitherOh yeah, and their pitching and hitting suxx too.And now throw in the always popular triple tag-up play.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Jeeze, this one's over. Fkn Cards. Ruining my dramatic and exciting post season.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 And Donnie Baseball can't manage.(cheap shot, 9-sniffle)
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 If you believe that baseball is a thinking fan's sport as I do, shut off the tv sound and listen to the radiocast. Orel Hersheiser is doing excellent color commentary, letting us know not just what pitch was thrown (any color analyst can do that by reading the monitor) but why it was thrown and what it might be setting up one or two pitches later. Fascinating stuff from inside a pitcher's (and catcher's) head.Later
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 The radio and tv are always off here, sometimes by five or six seconds. Mattingly looking old and worn out.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Funny, I was thinking as I watch the Cards celebrate ...will the Mets ever again? Then I look up at thread title andjeez I feel unhappy unhappy joyless joyless
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Gonna be tough to get into this world series with the Cards rep'n the N.L. I'm happy for Beltraan and all dat shit but...I disliked the Cards well before Carlos got there. I do wish Beltran well but I think I'll be rooting for an A.L. team this year. That stand-off business was wacky and I like that. Not enough spontaneous craziness in baseball anymore.
dinosaur jesus Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I like both AL teams. I'd be happy to root for either of them. It's funny--for some reason I want the Red Sox to beat the Tigers, but I'd be more excited if the Tigers won the Series. It's hard to say why I don't like the Cardinals. Their players seem fine, and I'm fond of the city, where I lived for nine years. Maybe I'm just tired of them. Or that red is too cheery, in an Up with People, turn that frown upside down sort of way.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 The important thing is somebody lost this series at least.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Dodgers suck. Thing is, so do the Cardinals. Our league is letting us down.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I wish the Dodgers and Cards could both lose and Red Sox and Tigers could both win.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 How about Frankie Frisch's old number still available for Beltran to grab?Played pretty much half his career there, but you know, still.
