Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I don't think you can overturn that one.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I think there was a real possibility that he could have caught that. I would have called interference and we'd be watching a riot now.

Maybe they did steal it from him but, in that area, it's his job to steal it from them. I would have called interference and we'd be watching a riot now.Well that would have been fun too.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I find myself with no real "enemies" among the remaining teams on the AL side. I'm kind of pulling for Oakland but aren't specifically 'against' any team.In the NL it's definitely Pitt up top and the Cards on the bottom.I probably would have stuck Atlanta 2nd (ahead of LA) if I thought about it prior to them getting knocked out, but sometimes I just start watching a series and find myself rooting one way or the other before I even consciously realize it.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 What a job by Scherzer there. Holy crap.Josh Reddick looked like he was going to cry. The cruelty of baseball has really visited him this game.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Wow. I love these electric crowds. Citi did have a few big crowds this season but did it ever get electric out there? Not like this (and the Bucs). That post season current.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Pittsburgh---OaklandTampaDetroit---Los AngelesBostonSt. LouisGWreck and LWFS similarity score: 100%I'd bet mine that Scherzer doesn't have a mismatched set of balls-- they're apparently both gigantic.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Brett Anderson, on the other hand, probably walks around just fine in jeans.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Dag, Cespedes. The last few days, between him and Puig, everything's coming up Cubans.

He could have had one of those goofy cartoons on the back of his baseball card saying: Josh participates in Civil War reenactments during the off-season
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 One game seamlessly turns into another. I was half paying attention. Go BUCS!That field Tampa Bay plays on is a disgrace to the game.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Yay Tiggers! I think a Detroit-Boston ALCS will be epic.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I think, with the decision-making the last two games, Joe Maddon only seems like he's taking crazy pills or had a million mini-strokes in the past 36 hours, because he's apparently using some sort of Metrics From The Future that we can't yet comprehend, because GOO'LOR' it's all working.Jamey Wright, tip yo' hat.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 That is one juicy carpet.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Mets Willets Point wrote:Yay Tiggers! I think a Detroit-Boston ALCS will be epic.ih. For whatever reason I don't really believe in the Tigers. I think they'd probably make a buncha errors and go into a sudden hitting slump or have a fat relief pitcjher come out and blow saves, and all the heroic Scherzering and Verlanderness and Fistercating will go to waste. That was an all-time ballsy recovery by Scherzer there, wasn't it? And the poor A's are always struck by some unforseen calamity in these series.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Pulling your starter in the second with no runs allowed does seem nuts. Perhaps in the future instead of having a ninth inning guy, there'll be a first inning guy.The Tampa Bay defense made up for a lot of their flaws this series with that DP.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 And now, Torres is the fourth pitcher in five frames. I'm thinking Maddon has some kind of a coupon or something.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Who thought this would be the pitchers' duel of the series? Especially with the Rays using their entire pitching staff. 1-1 in the 7th as the Red Sox just tied it up on a wild pitch.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 And an infield single gives Boston the lead. Beany ball.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I'd love to see the Ray's and A's meet..
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Just like Connie Mack said, it's that sixth pitcher you brought in for a righty-righty matchup in the seventh-- that's the one that'll get you.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 If you absolutely must load the bases in the 9th inning of a 1-run game, at least you did it by putting ball 4 into Victorino's ribs. Good job Fernando Rodney!
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Another run for Boston: 3 totalAnother pitcher for Tampa Bay: 9 total
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Didn't stay up for the end of the late game last night, but I'm guess that with a line of: WALK - K - WILD PITCH - WALK - HBP, Fernando Rodney didn't go shooting off any arrows upon being yanked in mid-inning.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Big-balls moment in the bottom of the 4th for Gerrit Cole to rival Mr. Scherzer's, with 2nd/3rd occupied, one out, and a couple of lefties up.Still, the one inside-corner hanger to Freese haunts him... while Adam Wainwright's sporting a next-to-the-throne Duke Charles. 2-0, Better Dead Thans, through 4 1/2.Am I the only one watching?
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I'm listening. Looks like I'll be rooting AL in the WS of this keeps up.
