It'll be very anti-climactic if we just sputter out of this season without a fight in these last two innings.

The 31 patch on the caps is a nice touch. A marketing ploy that I may just have to fall for.

Keith being scandalized by sloppy defense is great TV.

Keep bunting, Mets.

Darling was disgusted. Ha.

I'll take those cheapo runs Gary. No problembo. Its those little things we gotta do. Make contact in that spot Young was in. Even a dribbler could plate a run. To many Ks happening in that spot for the Mets. Good to see.

Satisfying way to close out the season. If I could change one thing, well, there was a certain Sean Henn factor that the game was somewhat short on.

MORE HENN IN 14!!

End of regular season sucks when you're not moving on.

Fun game to attend, the festivities were cool, apologies to Metfairy for not seeking you out in the parking lot, traffic sucked and I was scrambling after that to pick up my tix etc, big crowd today, nice to see.

Mets players threw all of their hats to the crowd after the game ended. I thought that was classy.

Howie had a very nice sign off, thanking lots of people over the last few innings and then inviting everyone to join them for next season - "check your local listings."

Seeing a sellout at the ballpark was strange. On days like this I am left to wonder what our stadium could be like if only we could get a winning team to play in it.

Almost spoiled now, between Opening Day and the ASG and today.. I've seen it full a lot this year.

It'd have been nice if they hadn't packed up half the concession stands andthe beer coolers were half empty too.

Loved Mike's line about teaching his son how to hit " and I told Jeff that the Mets will have first crack at him....... But he won't be cheap", big cheers.

Leiter gave a nice tribute from the MLB studio, Surprised Zeil wasn't there and Lenny Harris.

I picked 33 wins for the second half, which I thought left them at my preseason prediction of 73-89, but they have 41 wins right now (I thought it was 40), so I was off by one. Anyway, 33-38 over their final 71 sounds reasonable given the lineup flux, regressions to the mean and, most importantly, the kind of pitching that should prevent utter second-half collapse.

Might be enough to save Terry, which I'm not thrilled about, but if he earns it, he earns it.

33 wins in the second half. Got the Mets...well, third place, I guess. But a bit of a sham for the SHaMs.

Congrats to DocTee and MFS for nailing the 74-88 overall record. Congrats to the Mets for not going out with four losses in a row. Congrats to Mike Piazza, New York Mets Hall of Famer. Maybe the only speech in which an honoree said solemnly he's keeping the team honoring him in his prayers. He also semi-literally buried Nelson Doubleday, whom he thanked while referring to him as "no longer with us." I guess he meant with the Mets, but it sounded far graver.

Oh, and superclassy move by Terry jogging out to CF pregame and acknowledging the 7 Line fans who filled the Big Apple seats. Not a huge fan of the mgr, but he pulls one out of his hat now and again. Way to go.

Terry's probably the second classiest guy on the team.

During the close play at first that ended the..5th? where the runner dropped his helmet and what looked like a shin guard, Wright while jogging off the field picked it up for him and tossed it to him. (He dropped it.)

Wright also was (presumably) thanking the umpires after the game.

What Terry did was very cool, he got a great hand for it, after going to CF he came down our side in RF and was getting a standing ovation.

The 7 Line crew are great, made lots of noise, how does one go about joining them?

I liked the Piazza ceremony, though it felt a little...incomplete maybe? Would have thought we'd see more of Mike's teammates, maybe a recording from Ventura or someone. Fonzie and Johnny probably could have spent a little more time working on what they wanted to say. And I have no clue how they made the decision to have Valentine in the studio in NYC and not in Citi for this.

Mrs. Solo took a moment to look up from her book to say about Alicia (that's uh-lee-cee-uh to you), "who is that woman? She's had some bad work done!"
