It's adorable in a way, this ESPN announcer married-to-the-storyline thing. In another way, it's irritating, and totally inaccurate-- this would NOT save the Nats season.

I think it's just that ESPN employees tend towards looking at sports through a totally different lens than normal fans.

Baseball sucks. I have no idea why you morons watch it.

I know it's just normal crowd behavior, but you should be prohibited from booing ball-and-strike calls completely-- under penalty of ejection-- if you're caught cheering a sacrifice bunt by Bryce Fucking Harper.

They win the first two, get our hopes up for a sweep against a team of sons of bitches, we wait all day for the game, for over two and a half-hours things looked great... and then Rice and German piss it away. Dammit. After [u:12x4vnod]The Washington Post[/u:12x4vnod] called the Mets "eminently beatable", this would have been great.

We still hurt the Nats. Might be only a dent but might end up being painful in retrospect. Yep, shoulda won this one, and it would have been sweet, but I'll take kicking em in the knee and running away. On the whole I love how the bats have been so alive. The pitching, it was bound to blow a gasket, but its this RUN SCORING that has me in a good mood.

Should have scored more. 13 hits with 6 of them for XBs should net you more than 5 runs.
Only partially cashing in on all those doubles in the early innings was as much to blame for the loss as was the pen or the fact that the Nats cashed in five of their six runs after two were out.

If someone were to offer Werth a contract to become a sportscaster, starting immediately, I wouldn't object.

This fiasco was the first full 9 inning game that I had watched of the Mets this season. Last night's loss was frustrating, but I can't say I was surprised. I kept expecting them to cough it up and blow the lead at some point. The Mets succeeded at stringing me along for just about as long as they possibly could.

I am still a Mets fan, but they just don't captivate my attention like they once did. I guess I should be thankful for that, because if I watched the Mets on a regular basis I would most assuredly drink far more.
