Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 OO, lets make Mattingly regret this...oh, he is gonna make the change. Terrys right. That was a delay of game there.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 On a 2-strike fastball. Looking.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Justin Turner, compared to Dustin Pedroia by Vin Scully.I'm suddenly not convinced.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Yea, chew that gum Turner. Be careful though. Wouldn't want you to choke on that too.Looks at a 3rd strike. And it was a strike.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 It's enough to make a lady go into long-deferred labor. Or curse uncontrollably. Either way, here we are.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Does Puig get a high-five from DeVito for that GiDP?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 We shoulda be so on top of this game. Let's not go quietly.I too am feeling irrational antipathy for the Dodgers.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 That was kinda quiet. Well, if the umps are all for the Dodgers nothing should stop em.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 A winnable game that we managed, for a variety of reasons, not to win.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 This game really pissed me off. The kind of game that loses a series.

It was more one of those games where the timing simply sucked all night. The biggest problem came when five of the first eight batters getting hits resulted in just two runs thanks to the missed bunt (9th batter of the game) plus the two GiDPs (2nd & 10th). That inning plus the two more we left on base in the 3rd blew a real chance of running Nolasco's ass out of the game early but we let him off the hook. After that it was the FIVE LOBsters in the 7th & 8th while the Dodgers bunched most of their shit in one inning (cheap hits, real hits, our only error).Dodgers left 3 on, we left 9
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 We chase Nolasco early, and we're feasting on the back end of the bullpen for a good chunk of the series. We have a deeper bench, we're making some deadly counter-moves, like sending Brown (or Duda!) up for Quintanilla with two men on in the eighth. We have a deeper bench and a little more wa and a little less ego massaging, we're maybe sending Satin or Brown up for Davis when they send in a ridiculous junkballing lefty against him.Feels like the first time in a month Ike's gone down chasing that low breaking pitch like he did the whole first half. Ah, what's the use? What's the use?
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Ah, what's the use? What's the use?welcome to the dark side.

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 what did that mini-me tub of lard do?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Wow there's a lot of rage in this thread. Makes me glad I went to bed with the Mets up 2-0 and cruising.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Going to the game alone, with ringside seats, basking in Johnny-come-lately reflected glory, looking for all the world like Billy Crystal west. But you know, he's back with his wife, and loves animals, and is noticeably old, so I shouldn't be bringing the hammer down on him, but a strange amount of bitter antipathy bubbled out of me last night and some of it landed on him.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 The whole scene reeked of "Yankees-at-their-worst, minus the reasonable-people boundaries."
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 The MFYs basically won on a questionable strike call and the Mets lost on one. It was just a hateful night all around.A ridiculous strike 1 on Trumbo with the bases loaded and 1 out and Angels down by 1, after which he and the next guy whiffed chasing other pitches out of the zone.
