Byrd looked like he took that out of deference to the baserunner, which is a heck of a sacrifice when you're already down a strike.

Mejia takes the mound. You're big kid!

I'm gonna switch and listen to a few innings of play by play by Scully.

The late games always remind me of my grandfather, who would stay up listening to them on his radio.

Whether I make it through them or not, that's always a happy association for me.

Four hits in a row off Nolasco!

Vin is concerned for Bucks wife. Shes 10 days late?

Kicking their asses here. Too bad Flores looks like he'll need 3-6 weeks off.

Gary Cohen referred to the 11-day late Mrs. Buck as having "the longest gestation in Major League history."

2-0 Mets. Let's hope that Flores can rub a little dirt on his ankle and be able to stay in the game.

Fast forward for me in the AM.

I wanted more there. I saw them working in the cage last week with the pitchers, on bunts. They need to do that 3 times a week.

Wonder what would happen if they said "screw it" and did the hitting drills 3x a week instead.

Mejia makes Puig look silly. Yasiel reminds me of Lasciel the fallen angel from the Dresden Files. (read them.)

Vin has made several mistakes already.
Called EY Jr. "the son of a former Met", mispronounced Piscataway, and then the no-hitter gaffe.

Seems to be losing a bit off his fastball.

I caught that. He didn't really correct himself. He glossed over it. I think he had a slip there.

That would be a shame. He's no nonsense and some may say bland, but he is a great voice of the game.

Are you saying that Eric Young Jr. isn't Anthony Young's kid? I've been confused about that myself.

Still has the great voice and all, but he seems to be just reading off pre-game notes for his knowledge. We're spoiled a bit by Gary & Howie but having a p-b-p man who knows all the current goings-on in the game makes a big difference. I don't think Scully does and therefore is overly reliant on whatever he's being fed on paper. He just gave the score of the in-progress Arizona game as 2-0 Baltimore, for instance, even though the crawl right on the screen changed it to first 2-1 and then 2-2 a while earlier.

If they're his own notes thats kool. Him be a little slow is ok considering. I'm surprised he still works alone.
Yea, we are spoiled by our guys.

He certainly didn't seem this sloppy last year. He just told the "Yo la tengo" story, except he told it as Ashburn saying "Yo tengo... something."

All things must pass.
