Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Leading off, Eric Young gets a hit in August. That almost never happens!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Byrd looked like he took that out of deference to the baserunner, which is a heck of a sacrifice when you're already down a strike.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Mejia takes the mound. You're big kid!I'm gonna switch and listen to a few innings of play by play by Scully.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Vin says Mejia had an easy inning
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I hate the late games. By the third inning I'm gassed.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 The late games always remind me of my grandfather, who would stay up listening to them on his radio.Whether I make it through them or not, that's always a happy association for me.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Ike Davis + August = Danger.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Four straight hits. Let's chase this dude.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Four hits in a row off Nolasco!Vin is concerned for Bucks wife. Shes 10 days late?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Kicking their asses here. Too bad Flores looks like he'll need 3-6 weeks off.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Gary Cohen referred to the 11-day late Mrs. Buck as having "the longest gestation in Major League history."2-0 Mets. Let's hope that Flores can rub a little dirt on his ankle and be able to stay in the game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Mejia needs to go to bunting school. And I mean 101.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I wanted more there. I saw them working in the cage last week with the pitchers, on bunts. They need to do that 3 times a week.

Yasiel reminds me of Lasciel the fallen angel from the Dresden Files. (read them.)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Vin Scully missed a file. He just declared that the Mets have never had a no-hitter.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Vin has made several mistakes already.Called EY Jr. "the son of a former Met", mispronounced Piscataway, and then the no-hitter gaffe.Seems to be losing a bit off his fastball.

He's no nonsense and some may say bland, but he is a great voice of the game.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Is he just makin stuff up now, lol? Has Ike done batting practice with Jeter? And Goose?

I've been confused about that myself.

We're spoiled a bit by Gary & Howie but having a p-b-p man who knows all the current goings-on in the game makes a big difference. I don't think Scully does and therefore is overly reliant on whatever he's being fed on paper. He just gave the score of the in-progress Arizona game as 2-0 Baltimore, for instance, even though the crawl right on the screen changed it to first 2-1 and then 2-2 a while earlier.

Him be a little slow is ok considering. I'm surprised he still works alone. Yea, we are spoiled by our guys.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 He certainly didn't seem this sloppy last year. He just told the "Yo la tengo" story, except he told it as Ashburn saying "Yo tengo... something."All things must pass.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 That failed --- and that's the kind word --- bunt could really end up hurting.
