Terry NOT over-playing the lefty/righty thing this inning (IMHO of course).
All you want here is to get to Bobby P with as big a lead as possible.

I'd kind of rather not see Parnell in a third straight game. Not sure who I would like to see, though.

It's gotta be Parnell imo. Not for four outs tho. Get thru this Lyon.

He's just such a big-ass piece of meat right now.

I'll remind you: this started with going lefty-righty to match up better against Denard Span with one on, two out.

That's part of the problem in using him for the 3-run "cookie" save two nights ago ... but that's a whole 'nother story altogether.

Terry got outmanaged...

Outmanaged? Davey hasn't done anything since he signed the lineup card.

Well yeah he did, he brought in two PHers who both failed to get on, and one reliever who increased the Mets lead.

The thing is... Davey's done less.

The Nationals got the best possible matchup possible Zimmerman with bags juiced.

After Terry told the relievers to load 'em up, right?

Yes, that's known as the lineup

That's the point, LWFS. Let the players play. Aardsma gave up a ground ball single and got an out but TC had to make the "by the book" move and then all hell broke loose. He used two pitchers to avoid letting Aardsma face a lefty who wasn't the tying run.

Look, could he have used Rice against Span? Probably, but Harvey was done, and the pen is the pen. Who should he have used against Zimmerman? Hawkins? Wheeler? Skip Lockwood?

Yeah, I'm kind of on this also. It seems to work 49% of the time. Do you think Casey Stengel was pulling relievers immediately after they got an out? Or Ralph Houk? etc.

The 1961 Yankees had 47 complete games. Nobody was pitching in relief.

To be clear, I'm also on Team Less-Is-More.

Stengel is often credited with virtually inventing platooning.

I was concurring with you.

The bottom line here is that the entire bullpen -- Parnell included -- have given up more EXTRA BASE HITS than they've gotten outs.
If the pen, which has actually been fine lately, is going to act like that there's not much Terry can do about it except for allowing Harvey to go 140 pitches (or more).
