Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 That was a better, cleaner game than they've been playing.Still absolutely deserved to lose.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Can't be wasting good outings from the guys we don't expect good outings from.Mets lose
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Too bad it was larded with unfortunate shit like the dropped tag, the wild pitch, the unfinished DP, the 0-on, 2-out, 2-strike rally, etc etc etc

Guest vtmet Guests Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I think that I was being a little harsh on the 1977 Mets...as bad as that offense was, they still had a better batting average (.244 vs the current .227) and a better OBP (.313 OBP vs the "drive up the starter's pitch count" current team's mark of .302)...and even the pitching staff had a much better ERA (3.77 vs the current 4.59)...this team could use a Bruce Boisclair, a Nino Espinosa, a Skip Lockwood and a Bob Apodaca...
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 What team couldn't?The Cardinals will cry for mercy before all is said and done.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Wow, always? Really? If he gets on base, should he be stealing second and then third? You know what a home run is worth in that situation? Exactly as much as a walk or a single or a hit batsman or an error. You get aggressive in the ninth when you are the run that matters --- the tying on go-ahead run. Until that guy comes to the plate, the job of everybody else is to not make outs. That's good fundies.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 sorry, I was being sarcastic and mocking about the people that insist Duda is too passive and (before this recent slump) his 900+ OPS was worth nothing because he had no RBI.
