ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 First go round with the southern forces this season..
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 If by "southern forces," you mean "Phils fans trekking north" or "the animal-energy-radiating Yoni below Cole Hamels' belt," then yes.Gee was terrible at CBP, as he tends to be (10.71 ERA/2.05 WHIP/6 HRs allowed/1 non-terrible start in 4 career turns), but he does have a decent, if distortingly-brief track record at Citi vs. the Phils (2 starts, 12 IP, 16 baserunners, 7 K/1 BB, 1 HR allowed).
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 I'm hoping General Gee can get it done sir...

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Rollins with a lead off walk is picked off by Gee. He was safe, but we'll take it.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Home plate ump threwup and there is a delay of game.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I'm blacked out on MLB.TV . I do get the game from the local Philly channel. They would not replay the ump hurling, which is fine w/me. They do report he became ill during the Murphy squibble out. Did they show it on SNY?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Just tuning in now and I missed the barf..14 minute delay but not counted as official delay in game. The Aramark is being blamed..

Games on. Wouldn't any delay be official?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 You would think but that is what Gary said. Eno's pregame stylings are now being blamed for the barf..

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Gee works around that (on a fly that hung up for about three seconds, no less) courtesy-of-our-two-better-defensive-OFs gift double to Nix nicely.I forgot how good he could look when he's not being fucking terrible.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Gary and Keith speculating about Duda and 'Spin's "communication" in the outfield. I like to think they've settled on their own private semi-verbal system, consisting of hoots, grunts, and unintelligible mumbles.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Did not expect a pitching duel. Can they both keep this up? I think not.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I have no recollection of Kendrick's off-speed stuff ever being this consistently filthy. It's as if he stumbled on some of Johan's old JR Watkins in the bowels of CitiField pregame, and has somehow been gifted a temporarily Johanny change-up.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 First and third with no out for the Phils in the 6th. This does not bode well. And it doesn't. Young drives in Rollins with a solid single past the drawn in infield.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 and crap, Howard connects. 4-0.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 What are those two things on the mound near Gee? Oh, that's his wheels.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Before this game got all stupid, Keith sharing his memories of the McDowell-Jefferies fight of 1989 was priceless. Keith mentioned that Jefferies drew some derision because he kept his precious bats in a separate bag. McDowell, then with Philly, sawed him off and broke one and as Jefferies went to first said "put that in your bag!" which started the brawl.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 What happened to being patient at the plate? We saw 6 pitches that whole inning. And only two hits off Kendrick? Come ooooooon.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Ugh. One bad inning by Gee. No bad innings by Kyle Schmendrick.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Kyle Kendrick. That was the third complete game and second shutout of his entire career. That deserves one big[bigpurple:1qzlwbge]GAH![/bigpurple:1qzlwbge]
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 To be fair, how can you reasonably expect to get more than 3 hits and see more than 100 or so pitches from Kyle Kendrick? This is no joker lefty with a lapdog or a Cy Young pretender with Amish facial hair... this is Kyle F. Kendrick, people.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 At least it was quick(er). We've been playing some long-ass games so far this season.
