Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 The definition they established after the first Marlin sweep still works for me.

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Satin, Edgin and Cowgill give you a reason to watch? Then you are truly desperate for a reason to watch.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I think throwing Ike overboard is the tide that lifts all boats. It could not have been a happy workplace with that shit going on every day.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Vic Sage wrote:Satin, Edgin and Cowgill give you a reason to watch? Then you are truly desperate for a reason to watch.Well, I'd continue to watch anyway, even if they stuck with Ike (got that MLB.TV deal). I found myself asking myself why a lot lately. Why sit through this? I just like that they have changed things up. I was getting sick of watching the current cast of misfits. It was getting very difficult to witness. I am interested in what Satin can do at this level, at this time. Maybe see Muffy at first if they go that way. It's refreshed my interest. If I ever get desperate over anything to do with the Mets its a passing thing that lasts only a minute or so. I vent it. I'm not a believer in wasting time on negative emotions. And with this team, that's a good thing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 Got to think Cowgill is fortunate that this swapout had to (at least the Mets felt it had to) go down when it did. If it could have happened a couple of days earlier, the outfield almost certainly would have gone to Brown, who is absolutely all-world in the PCL this year, and seemingly has come off the DL has smoking hot as he was when he went onto it. With just a handful more plate appearances, he'd be leading the league in the whole magilla --- batting average, OBP, slugging, and OPS natch.Second in the circuit in RBI is Wilmer Flores.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 So with Turner down and Brown up, the backup shortstop is.... Valdespin? Wright? If anyone was thinking Young (as I was), he's never played an inning at short, majors or minors. Me, I'd play Recker there, if only to see him without a mask on for longer stretches.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Shortstop depth chart is likely:[*:1awlju5c]Quinty[/*:m:1awlju5c][*:1awlju5c]Valdy[/*:m:1awlju5c][*:1awlju5c]Youngy[/*:m:1awlju5c][*:1awlju5c]Sugar[/*:m:1awlju5c][/list:o:1awlju5c]Probably will never get to slot three and possibly never get to slot two, but I'd have no complaint if Wright were ahead of Young.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Atchison back to the DL - did he ever really come off it?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 He pulls a Larry Yount, and gets credit for an appearance without actually participating.http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.cgi?id=atchisc01&t=p&year=2013
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 Sources say Niese is hitting the DL and Burke is coming back. That they called up a reliever and not a starter and a reliever suggests that Marcum gets a stay of execution, but I say that Carlos Torres is looking like a real option for the fifth starter.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 According to Mets.com, RHP Gonzalez Germen is on his way to NY. A corresponding move will made prior to Tuesday's game.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 Shoulda made this move at the start of the homestand. This pen is gassed.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 According to Mets.com, RHP Gonzalez Germen is on his way to NY.A 25 y/o Right-hander, Germen is not exactly lighting things up out in the desert: 5.70 ERA, 1.34 WHiP, and before we blame it on the location, those numbers aren't too far off from what he was doing in Buffalo last year: 5.14, 1.26Sounds like a temporary move at best. A corresponding move will made prior to Tuesday's game.Lyon? Tough to make a case for anyone getting the boot instead of him assuming there's not an injury we don't know of.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 I'm betting it comes from the offensive side. t's not like Valdy and Nieuwie are getting any PT. Lutz even less.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I agree with both previous posts. It will probably be short-term, and I think a position player will go down. They probably just want a few more arms in the bullpen for the next week or so.Lyon had been doing well, then is suddenly awful. Either he's going through a slumpy spell, or there's some ailment that we don't yet know about.
