Slow IGT, so I'll slip into Ralph Kiner mode.

All this Dodger futility beings to mind the classic story involving Pedro Guerrero and Steve Sax of the Dodgers, both of whom were having all sorts of trouble in the infield. The veracity and accuracy of this story are not verified, but I sure remember hearing it a lot at the time. Stop me if you've heard it....

Anyway, Tommy Lasorda is questioning Guerrero, who was really an outfielder, on his thought process at third base:

"Okay, Pedro," Lasorda said, "two on, one out in the ninth. What are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking, don't hit the ball to me," Guerrero said.
"OK," Lasorda said, "but what else are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking," Guerrero said, "don't hit the ball to Sax either."

Can we pass on the claw without Jose Reyes? I mean, criminy-- it's the Rangers' thing, and something like 8 or 9 other teams do it now, apropos of nothing.

1) Catch the ball
2) Throw the ball

Preferably in that order.

Dodgers can't score on their own. Please stop helping them.

Really dislike this Turner-at-first thing.

Agreed. It didn't work so great last Sunday night. Turner needs some ABs but I'd rather have hot-Ike, even against a hot-lefty, to have his defense.

There you go. Nice move, Shorty.

This inning looks like the softball game at the company picnic.

That's a helluva throw from the catcher who is only there for his defense. Gordon is really fast but if you're going to hit .150, it would be a good idea to throw it to the correct side of the bag.

These ESPN announcers are as brainlessly repetitive as the Fox crew from yesterday. Yes, we get it. The Dodgers haven't led a game in many days. They don't score often.

Also, this just in. Clayton Kershaw won the "triple crown" last year. Just. Stop. It. The pitching triple crown is bullshit anyway. I think every time they mention the triple crown and they're talking about a pitcher that Carl Yasztremski dies a little bit inside.

Oh, those bases on balls. And those line-drive doubles.

It's all psychological, you know. A highly disproportionate number of big league managers come from the ranks of second-string infielders, and so they have a personal interest in using their position to demonstrate the utility of second-strong infielders, and so feel better about their own careers.

..and fundamentally sound ground outs.

Meanwhile, you get the idea that if ESPN didn't have the broadcast rights to the Home-Run Derby that they wouldn't even mention the ASG at all.

Kershaw looking stronger as the game goes on. Threw a shitload of pitches early in the game. Hope they pull him soon.

He did Quantum Leap too, didnt he? (The other Bellisario)
