Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Hey look, an orange line conflict!Lines of demarcation on walls suck!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I remember Hardy as a good defensive player when he had those couple good years with Milwaukee - and he seems to still be. Not flashy, but fundamentally sound and can make all the plays.Betemit, on the other hand, was a hot-shot SS prospect around the same time Reyes was. Betemit was often ranked as high or higher because scouts liked his power better. But Reyes had him in speed obviously as well as the greater likelihood of staying and thriving at SS. In the long run, not only did Betemit not turn into the hitter some thought but clearly is barely a competent corner infielder much less a SS.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Vinny Rottino is going for the self-sacrificing "little things" cycle.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Betemit's a really useful utility-infielder-with-pop guy, though. He's on his seventh team and will likely hit four or five more before he's done. He often starts a season on the bench but ends up playing every day for half of it, as soon as they figure out where they need him.A lot of one-year deals ahead for him.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 The way Dillon Gee is building on Dickey and Johan's efforts, the Orioles are seriously looking a team meeting before the weekend. Ten straight and 18 of 20 for the G-man.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Gee sure is having a nice game! It's as if the starters realized the best way to win is to not give up hits, and minimize bullpen activity.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Let's hope that the Orioles regain their hitting eye on Friday night.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 That hat got stuck there when an actual Philly crawled in his pants.Valdy is going to drive a few managers crazy.Wright having a heckuva productive day.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 UGH!Stripes on walls suck monkey balls.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I'm gonna channel Warner Wolf and suggest a rule change: when there's two outs and a runner on 1st, if there's a ground-rule double the runner from 1st scores. He's running on the pitch so the team in the field shouldn't benefit because the ball goes over the fence (or the line at Citi Field).
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 We've 'bounced' ourselves out of a couple of runs tonight. We should also have a bigger lead at this point.

Took longer to get going than originally hoped and sometimes it's hard to shoe-horn him into a position.Just tough to think of him as a one-time SS prospect much less a top-notch one.oe: and at least he's fared better than the guy who was neck-and-neck with Wright for the top 3B prospect once upon a time -- Andy Marte Edited June 20, 2012 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Yeah, considering how one-sided this game has been, it would be nice if we had it a little more in our pockets by now.Gee's doing a really impressive job for a number-five-turned-number-four starter.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Boy the O's are going down easy. I think it's possible that Dickey broke them on Monday.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 This game seems to be going well. Need Gee to stay on track.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I consider five or more runs to be out of bullpen blowup range.Seven or more to get beyond nail-biting territory. If we get to the 9th inning you can knock those totals down by one each.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 There's your Better Meat.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Gee was great tonight but he can't close the deal.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 Cheers to the brunette on the first base line in the white tank top.Jeers to the big dope in left center to turn Wright's double into a ground rule double, costing Torres a run. Go home, dick.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Wow. Thats big. We needed that. Bad call though.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Not a bad call. If you hit the ball with your bat twice, you're out.
