I wonder what that is all about.

Usually a comment like that implies a bad (or at least unusual) haircut.
I haven't seen a shot yet.

I remember Hardy as a good defensive player when he had those couple good years with Milwaukee - and he seems to still be. Not flashy, but fundamentally sound and can make all the plays.

Betemit, on the other hand, was a hot-shot SS prospect around the same time Reyes was. Betemit was often ranked as high or higher because scouts liked his power better. But Reyes had him in speed obviously as well as the greater likelihood of staying and thriving at SS. In the long run, not only did Betemit not turn into the hitter some thought but clearly is barely a competent corner infielder much less a SS.

Betemit's a really useful utility-infielder-with-pop guy, though. He's on his seventh team and will likely hit four or five more before he's done. He often starts a season on the bench but ends up playing every day for half of it, as soon as they figure out where they need him.

A lot of one-year deals ahead for him.

The way Dillon Gee is building on Dickey and Johan's efforts, the Orioles are seriously looking a team meeting before the weekend. Ten straight and 18 of 20 for the G-man.

Gee sure is having a nice game! It's as if the starters realized the best way to win is to not give up hits, and minimize bullpen activity.

Does it have something to do with the Phillies cap in his pants?

That hat got stuck there when an actual Philly crawled in his pants.

Valdy is going to drive a few managers crazy.

Wright having a heckuva productive day.

I'm gonna channel Warner Wolf and suggest a rule change: when there's two outs and a runner on 1st, if there's a ground-rule double the runner from 1st scores. He's running on the pitch so the team in the field shouldn't benefit because the ball goes over the fence (or the line at Citi Field).

Oh yeah, he's certainly not a waste. Took longer to get going than originally hoped and sometimes it's hard to shoe-horn him into a position.
Just tough to think of him as a one-time SS prospect much less a top-notch one.

oe: and at least he's fared better than the guy who was neck-and-neck with Wright for the top 3B prospect once upon a time -- Andy Marte

Yeah, considering how one-sided this game has been, it would be nice if we had it a little more in our pockets by now.

Gee's doing a really impressive job for a number-five-turned-number-four starter.

Boy the O's are going down easy. I think it's possible that Dickey broke them on Monday.

I consider five or more runs to be out of bullpen blowup range.
Seven or more to get beyond nail-biting territory.
If we get to the 9th inning you can knock those totals down by one each.

Cheers to the brunette on the first base line in the white tank top.

Jeers to the big dope in left center to turn Wright's double into a ground rule double, costing Torres a run. Go home, dick.

Not a bad call. If you hit the ball with your bat twice, you're out.

Thought he had to be out of the batters box. But then again I thought it hit him, not the bat.
I like how we have had so many more good breaks as opposed to bad breaks so far this season. At least it feels that way.

Muffie working the Keith Hernandez 'stache. He looks like a billion damn dollars.

Fwife: "Is that even real?"
Me: "Yes."

The batter was still in the box but the ball was in fair territory when it connected with the bat - I believe that's what determines foul vs out.
