Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Let's get one, eh? Dillon Gee vs. Henderson Alvarez.Interleague baseball blows, might I add. Stupid DH.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 3 run firsts are always nice.Too bad for Rasmus, that was too terrific a play to get screwed on.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Gee should have kept the beard and shaved off his suck.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Josh Lewin getting it done, bringing the Bad News Bears reverence.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Ike Davis..The big White Dope. friggin .158???Somebody throw Jason Bay a 1B mitt..
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Nobody has to throw Bay a firstbaseman's mitt. And I'm not sure how failure makes him a dope.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 OK, I have no idea if Baxter is for real or just a flash in the pan but, until he falls off the cliff, you've got to ride this horse until he drops.Dude is just all over every pitch he cuts at.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Cedeno making up for the error with the Dave Concepcion play.

There's no reason why a guy that pinches like Baxter can't do it regularly. And he's not pinching because he's too old and slow to play every day, like Staub and Kranepool eventually* were. Baxter's been Heeped into the pinch hitting role; the perception is that though he's young enough, he's not good enough to crack the top of the depth charts.Baxter's been great this year. But still, I'd like to see some more at-bats. He's giving the Mets some good problems for when Bay and Tejada return.*Some might argue "always" instead of "eventually".
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Fact remains that, at least at the moment, Baxter is hitting better than Ike, Duda, Nieuwenhuis, and, hell, better than everyone not named Murphy or Wright.Make him play his way out of the line-up.*Some might argue "always" instead of "eventually".Rusty was definitely an 'eventually'. Yeah he was never fast, but those who missed his early career and/or his first go-around in Queens missed a pretty damn good OFer in his day.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Baxter is a professional baseball player having the time of his life. Enjoy!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 So with just two pitches thrown and no chance of being PH'd-for, does Parnell get to come out for the 8th?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Same situation as earlier in the week. We'll see if "the White Jerry" has learned anything.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 It seems like every double and non-double (the Baxter play from Saturday) we've hit in this series has involved a sliding play at the base. It's like they're hitting them all in a 'No Standing' zone.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Well Parnell gets to pitch to at least one hitter in the 8th so there's that.I just hope that top-8 doesn't come back to burn us; three singles plus a walk and two balls back to the screen - but no runs!!

That doesn't make him a dope and it doesn't mean Bay is the next firstbaseman.

For someone so slow that he always looked like he was running in place, like a hamster on a treadmill, Staub was a great outfielder. He could get to the ball, catch it, and his throwing arm was fantastic -- strong and accurate. One might not have divined Staub's defensive prowess from watching him waddle around the bases as if he were running in quicksand. Edited May 20, 2012 by Guest

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 I swear it's like these relievers draw straws out there to decided whose turn it is to suck that day!!And, yes, we ARE going to regret that top 8th.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 And are we really going to turn the ninth inning over to Frank Francisco?? I hope the Mets score seven runs in the top of the ninth.I'm tempted to leave Byrdak in there, even though the Jays are due to send up three righties.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Let's hope that built Parnell's character a little.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Did Howie just say that Oliver was a Met in 1986?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Mets don't score in the ninth. Fasten your seatbelts!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 And it's Francisco to close it out.I really don't know if I wanna watch.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 My only question is how many outs there'll be when the Jays push across the winner.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Well, you'll less want to watch now. Leadoff walk and Bautista up.And a team that surely knows Francisco's stuff.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Freaking Francisco.Who is closing games in Buffalo?
