Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I would encourage any voters for last night's game to consider deeply Hairston's throw and Thole's putout.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Voting for the first two games played against the Phillies will close some time over the weekend. Since this notice is coming a little late on Friday morning, I'll promise not to close the voting threads until Sunday morning at the earliest. Both games look like they can use a few more votes.Schaefer POTG, 7/3/2012: Mets 11 Phillies 1Schaefer POTG 7/4/12 - Phillies 9, Mets 2

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 These games are kind of past due. I seem to be suffering from a mid-season malaise. With the long All Star break I've almost forgotten that it's still baseball season.Anyway, the three games played against the Cubs last weekend will close some time over the weekend. These games are very undervoted; two of them only have five votes and the other has six. Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 I can see from the lower and lower vote counts that, understandably, the Mets miserable performance since the All-Star break has most of us weary of Schaefer voting, but I'm going to continue this through the end of the season anyway. The three games played against the Dodgers over the weekend will close on Wednesday morning.Schaefer POTG 7/20/12 - Dodgers 7, Mets 6Schaefer POTG, 7/21/2012: Dodgers 8 Mets 5Schaefer POTG 7/22/12 - Dodgers 8, Mets 3 (12 Innings)

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 Voter participation seems to be on a bit of an upswing lately. Nice to see... my thanks to all those who participate. We're going to break the pattern a bit for a while. My flight to South Africa leaves tomorrow morning. I expect to have Internet access at least through Monday of next week while I'm in Cape Town. I plan to get all of July tallied when I have some down time. (I'm usually the first in my family to wake up, so I may do some Internetting while in a dark and silent hotel room.)Please try to have all July games (the ones listed below plus the yet-to-be-played July 31 game) voted by Saturday of this week. I'll tally the votes on Sunday or at my first chance thereafter. I probably won't be posting any more reminders. I'll let myself fall behind on all games played in August and get caught up when I return to the U.S.A. on August 20. Despite the lack of my customary reminders, please keep starting the threads and casting your votes. During the last few years the Mets have nose-dived during my summer vacations. Maybe, now that they've already had an awful stretch, this year things will be different and I'll come back to find the Mets in the heart of a wild-card race. Let's hope so, anyway. Thank you, and Let's go Mets! Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Sorry. I really turded out during the losing streak. Disenchantment certainly, but my life also got complicated.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Ashie - you need to specify which Ramirez gets Schaefer for the 8/5 game (it's obvious now, but it will be less obvious to BG when he gets back from his vacation). Thanks

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Lefty Specialist said this in the 8/8 thread -In a 13-0 loss, shouldn't everyone be a zero, up to and including the parking lot attendants and batboys?I don't necessarily disagree, and considered doing it myself (G-Fafif witnessed me saying "No Schaefer for Anyone Tonight!"). But ultimately I decided to give a few sips of beer to the two bullpen guys who didn't stink up the joint. But a dry post-game clubhouse would also be fine with me.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 Well, I'm back home from South Africa (it was a great vacation, but I'm really happy to be in the USA again) and it's time to start catching up on the Schaefer stuff.
