Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I was watching the Atlanta telecast on Extra Innings. Two things: Eric Hinske, striking out in the seventh with two runners on, yelled "FUCK!" so loudly that it was very easily heard on TV.The Braves announcers thought that Carlos Delgado was from Panama. And that included Carlos' former teammate Tom Glavine who was one of the three voices in the booth.

Can't say that about any other NL staff. The Mets are exceeding expectations. We knew they'd have the pitching. The only question was whether they'd hit enough for the pitching to hold up.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Very strange. I mean, while the guy is quiet, to the extent that he does express himself verbally and non-verbally, he's pariticularly expressive about his Puertorriquenisimo. He's spoken about not merely being Puerto Rican, but being Aguadillano. His politics are PR-centered. His charity work is PR-centered. He's represented Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic. His hero is Roberto Clemente.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 And there might even have been games in PR during that time?

And when you talk about great players from Panama, Carlos Delgado is one of the first people you think of.I found out this morning that tonight's pitcher for the Braves, Randall Delgado, is from Panama. So maybe they think that if your name is Delgado, then you must be from Panama.
