The Mets continue to enjoy the home environs, welcoming the 2-1 Nats --- looking to grab a slice of that first place pie --- for a mid-week series. Mike Pelfrey makes his 2012 debut locking up against Edwin Jackson. EJ is a German-born righthander with the good face who went 12-9/3.79 in 2011, splitting the season between the Cards and the White Sox. It was the second straight season he endured a mid-season trade. He's on a one-year deal with Washington, so a third such deal isn't out of the question.

Two Things to Remember for This Game:

  1. Kiddies.
  2. Wives.

Ah, bring on weeknight Mets baseball. I heart you, April!

The sweet schedule of Work->gym/dinner->baseball->Bed that insures I get nothing productive done at home.

Pelf for nine strong, obviously.

Well, yes, I'm drinking with brunch. Why do you ask?

He's a horse, but it's his first start!

He'll pitch 8, the mets will have a 25-0 lead, and Justin Turner will pitch the 9th.

If you followed Rubin, you'd know it's Rauch, then... a bit of a surprise.

According to Collins, 41-year-old long man Miguel Batista should get the assignment. Batista had five saves in six chances for Aguilas in the Dominican Republic during the winter league season.

Hmm...the Nationals' manager would look good in a Mets' uniform.

I don't hate Pelfrey, but at the moment I'm not particularly enamored of him either....
