soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Tell me that the uniforms don't look 1,000% better now that all that nasty black is gone.Go ahead. Tell me.You can't.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I shan't. I can't. I won't.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I didn't think the shadows looked bad on the snow whites -- though they looked horrible on the pinstripes -- though I always disliked the black stirrups and sleeves. But make no mistake, the uniforms now are spectacular!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Agreed, they look sharp out there. I think it's why they are winning.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Lettering on the back and the numbers seem different. Harder edges to them. Almost a comic book effect in terms of the tone. But effing great, mind you.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 They look like the Mets again. And that, of course, is a good thing.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 And only in comic books can a team go 162-0.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I agree the unis look sharp. Give me the pins more than the snowballs at home, though. Can't wait to see blue caps on the road again.Along the same lines...I'm loving the blue walls at Citi. However, thumbs down on the ugly Party City logo.

If it was up to me, I'd ditch the whites altogether. I only tolerated the whites because they were less of an affront than the blacks. The Mets are pinstripes. The whites are bullshit.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Without being blatantly political, let's just say that there's a sign adjacent to one of the scoreboards that makes me sick so the hot sauce signs are nothing in comparison.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I know what you mean. Budweiser. Yech.

Or a bordello anywhere, I suppose. Edited April 8, 2012 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 My buddy Tim --- a frequent spring training visitor --- came by today and presented me with a late birthday present --- my first authentic jersey. A lovely road gray.Yup --- black drop shadows. Loved him for it any how. At least the shoulder patch had the blue skyline.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 'No Black'Roger didn't get the memo.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 One night with Roger Craig, the world's your oyster!I'd like to thank Mr. Craig for bringing along a taste of 1962 yesterday. Sheesh.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 ...and why the heck wouldn't they at least put him in the pinstripes? It's the little things you know?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I'm very pro-education and all, but I think this is the only advertisement in the entire place I truly hate. the LIU is just..too big.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Out of context, that post makes batmag look like he's an Asian with some twisted racial hangups.

Roger was just fittin' in.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 So the road look we're going to start seeing... solid grays and blue tops on Sundays?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I was under the impression the roads would always be the same.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Blue alts are on the agenda for next year, I understand.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 And I think we'll see them a few times this year, too. If I remember right, the Mets didn't get approval in time to make them "official" for 2012, but they are allowed to wear "unofficial" uniforms a limited number of times each season, and the blues will be used that way this year. And they'll become "official" in 2013.
