metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 so what would be the point of me putting a plyer into my minor leagues?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 this interface bites ass. Somehow didn't take my lineup and i'm missing 2 players going now
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 metsmarathon wrote:so what would be the point of me putting a plyer into my minor leagues?I'm not really sure. Does it do it automatically maybe just so you can see how they're doing type thing and don't accidentily sub them in?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Yeah, I thought I had my lineup set last night, but I guess it reset everything either at the end of the draft or the start of the season.Luckily, Coco Crisp was the only player I would have had going this morning and he was 0-5.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 looks like we have to set them manually post 'start of season' so everyone that has A's M's should probably do that for tomorrow.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Lost 8 innings from McCarthy and the winning pitcher, Wilhelmsen.
Guest mgmlax85 Guests Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Mohawk Red Flyers here. Finally got off my ass and joined this since it seems difficult to read the message board on Ottoneu.Yeah, I am a little annoyed too. Set my lineup at 11:45 last night, got it reset and lost 8 really good innings out of King Felix and a solid inning out of Brandon League.Dare I ask if anything can be done about this?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 I sent Niv an email to ask, but I'm not sure what can be done. Apparently lineups can't be set until the draft is finished.
Guest mgmlax85 Guests Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Yeah, this one isn't quite as cut and dry as the Nelson Cruz issue. If Felix had a bad game, I wouldn't want to say anything. He was obviously in my starting lineup last night, but there is a lot more wiggle room here.I appreciate you checking into it for me/us.
m.e.t.b.o.t. Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 m.e.t.b.o.t. has a procedural question.due to the difficulty of running two drafts at a time, the human in control of programming m.e.t.b.o.t. has failed in his duty to ensure quality algorithms are utilized at all times. m.e.t.b.o.t. has over drafted, if slightly. m.e.t.b.o.t. drafted two too many players valued in the $10-14 bin. the human was not paying enough attention to where drafted players slotted into these bins. m.e.t.b.o.t. did not spend too much money, of course, but has taken a degree of an unfair advantage, which is perhaps not all that large. essentially, m.e.t.b.o.t. has taken a unfortunately, m.e.t.b.o.t. has compounded this advantage by misusing the waiver wire. m.e.t.b.o.t. has nominated several player for auction, but only after re-examining the value-bins did m.e.t.b.o.t. determine that the error was made. m.e.t.b.o.t. has nominated, for instance, 3 players which fall into the $10-14 bin, and 5 players which fall into the $7-9 bin. should m.e.t.b.o.t. acquire these players, m.e.t.b.o.t. will drop them immediately, accepting the salary cap penalty. m.e.t.b.o.t. is initiating a new set of bids according to the correct slotting scheme. m.e.t.b.o.t. apologizes for any difficulties.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 yeah, and thanks for all the spam you worthless robot!
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 man, i am so fried from last night! getting a bunch of gears and springs and rubber bands to interface with an iphone is not easy. i would've had the 'bot use a second computer, but i forgot to bring a laptop cord home. i lost track of what i was doing for my own team, and overspent in the early goings last night, leaving me with no flexibility to get my steals last night. so often i had a guy i wanted, nominated him, and lost him 'cos i couldn't go to $3 for him. and there were a few players i lost because i though i was clicking on the bid button, but was only just selecting hte window. argh! i'm sure others had difficulties, and these were all of my own doing. but still. what a chore!
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I guess that's what I meant by "work" yesterday.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 At least we'll pretty much start from the second half next year, we'll know what we're doing, maybe Niv will have fixed some bugs, and we'll have a longer period of time to do the auction (like late February/early March instead of the night before the first game)
Guest mgmlax85 Guests Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 A bit of a follow-up concerning the rosters being reset. I was just looking at my lineup, and it indicates that I have 9 IP for the year (which is what i missed from Hernandez and League on opening day), but no credit for the stats accrued in those 9 innings. Are the Ottoneu people in the process of including those players on opening day in our starting lineups? I checked and noticed the same thing on Greenpoint's Lineup page, since I knew he had a couple pitchers play that day.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 oh, good. i had some nice dustin ackley offense in the first game that i wouldn't mind getting credit for. also, i did indeed confirm, through the help of my little metallic friend, that initiating an auction for a player does indeed obligate you to bid the minimum $1, regardless of whether you actually place the $1 bid, or even if you subsequently delete it (or a higher value).
Guest mgmlax85 Guests Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Well, at the moment, your games played list only shows 1 for MI, not 2. For what it's worth.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Just realized that I pulled a Nelson Cruz at the tail end of the draft-- the Josh Bell I snagged at auction is slightly-older, out-of-baseball 3B Josh Bell, and not the still-in-baseball 3B prospect Josh Bell I thought I was buying.Do you mind making the switch, Cee? I'd do it myself, but it would cost me at least $2 off my cap to do so.
m.e.t.b.o.t. Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 m.e.t.b.o.t. suffered an algorithmical failure during the draft and mistakenly believed the metropolitan pitcher chris young to be valued at $17, failing to notice that the valuation in fact belonged to diamondback rattlesnake outfielder chris young, listed one cell higher. while small, and eminently crushable, m.e.t.b.o.t. is however robot enough to accept the failure as his own, and is not asking for any compensation or alteration of the selection. m.e.t.b.o.t. is aware that this acceptance is also due to the fact that neither m.e.t.b.o.t. nor the human in charge of maintaining, upgrading, repairing, and winding m.e.t.b.o.t. have any interest in devising an appropriate scheme whereby m.e.t.b.o.t. should determine that cutting a player is necessary, in a way that is both fair and formulaic. besides, the projection which m.e.t.b.o.t. used for the metropolitan pitcher chris young is still fairly optimistic, and may be worth the $1 salary allotted him.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 apparently, anyone who had a player in the first game of the season, who was in their lineup the night of hte draft, but who was taken out of hte lineup when they were reset on the completion of the draft, can have their playing time reinstated, provided our esteemed commissioner sends an email to the kind folks at ottoneu with a list of all the player corrections to be made. while this gives us a chance to be retroactively picky in who we play, lets try to keep it honest.me, i had kurt suzuki ©, dustin ackley (MI) , and mike carp (OF) in the first game. yes, i'm taking credit for an 0-4 performance and a 1-5. frakkin' honesty.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 funny, since I asked the day after and was told that'd it wasn't going to happen. Where'd you see this?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 via email conversation with the owner of the red flyers. he emailed onnoneu about king felix' innings, which they decided to credit him. he asked then about the rest of the teams in hte league that were similarly affected, and the response was to have the commish send them an email with the affected teams. i assume telling them the affected players on those affected teams would only help matters.

Guest mgmlax85 Guests Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 CeetarSorry if it looks like I took an end around on you here. When I noticed that my total innings pitched showed 9 despite not getting the stats, I figured I'd just email the help desk explaining what happened and ask them to remove the 9 IP. I thought I'd save you the hassle of being the middle-man again. Then Niv replied saying that he was going to credit me with the stats instead. So I mentioned to him that I wasn't the only one affected in our league. As I told him, obviously we've learned that we need to finish the draft earlier if rosters are going to reset. There probably aren't too many players between the Mariners and Athletics that were in starting lineups, so I don't think there should be a huge effect. And like Alpine said, we all should be able to be honest here.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 No big deal. I imagine the winning pitcher and the two starters are the main stat-getters here.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 In the attitude of fairness and sportsmanship...I have Coco Crisp who went 0-5 in the first game. You can add him to the list. But, I'll understand if nothing can be done.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Thanks! Those would be the only guys I had involved.
Guest Muddy Chicken Guests Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I had Seth Smith in my lineup, but I could care less if I get credit for his 1 hit and 1 HBP.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 So far my hitters are smacking it, but my pitchers are getting smacked just as hard. I'm really regretting taking a wait and see approach to Jeff Samardzija, but at least I have him on the roster.
