Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Among Francisco Rodriguez, Francisco Cordero, and Frank Francisco, the closer market was starting to get over-Franciscan. Very confusing.Dark-skinned, Dominican, fiery, jowly, broadchested, and round in the belly, I predict he won't get out of his first appearance without a comparison to Armando Benitez from Gary Cohen.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Frankie Franks will be the shit. Have a press conference, make him throw a jersey over a suit from Mens Warehouse. I dare you.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Not to be confused with Francisco Franco ... he's still dead.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 $6m/yr x2yrs seems about right for a middling closer.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I like the deal on its own merits, but it makes me wonder if all these 1-2 year deals for 3-5 million (+5 million in arbitration to a Pelfrey) the Mets will hand out over the next 6 years could have just been minimum salary guys + Reyes instead.

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Franciso has trouble getting to 50 innings in a season and won't give you an ERA less than 3.50. Meh.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 The excitement of Jose seems somehow far awayThe glory of '06 is of another dayI've been getting little hope from reporters in ManhattanAnd don't get me started about Jason BayI'll give my heart to Frank FranciscoFrom on the hill, Terry calls to himTo be where little crowds watch a team devoid of starsThe other fans all feel despair, I don't careMy hopes now lie, with Frank FranciscoUp on the mound, is where you'll beWhen I will look to you, Frank FranciscoAnd games your arm will save for me

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I'm going to go out on a limbsicle and guess that he's the first Met to ever save the first three games of the season. Certainly the first three games of is career here.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 He certainly had a better weekend than a lot of closers and other relievers in MLB this weekend.Lotta pens over the last few days weren't merely leaking oil but were spilling blood all over the field.
