Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 David Howard announced that the team would have historical bobble heads this year, one player for each decade starting with Seaver for the 1960s.So, who are your guesses for the rest of the decades?I'm guessing:1970s: Koosman (but Willie Mays would be sweet!)1980s: Strawberry (though Mookie, Hernandez or Gooden all would be fine choices.)1990s: Piazza2000s: Wright
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 70s: Tug80s: Straw 90s: Piazza00s: Wright
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I'd guess Piazza for the 00's. Wright isn't exactly historical. But he could be by the time the 00's bobble is made available. Tough decision for the '80's. I'd ordinarily go with Mex, but this year, I'd guess Kid.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Good thinking about Carter. If not Piazza, then who for the 90s? Alfonzo, Franco, Leiter?
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Good point about Wright -- Howard did say "alumni," of which Wright is not. Reyes might be by then.....I can't believe I forgot about Carter, too. My bad.Maybe Fonzie is in there somewhere?
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 HahnSolo wrote:Good thinking about Carter. If not Piazza, then who for the 90s? Alfonzo, Franco, Leiter?I dunno. Piazza/Wright is a stronger combination than Piazza/any '90s Met. I guess that the three Mets you mentioned (Alfonzo, Leiter, Franco) are the likeliest of the 90's Mets to be given a historical bobble. Maybe Hundley. Personally, I'd like to see an Olerud bobble. Or an Anthony Young. But that's me.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 If it was up to me, I'd go:60's - Throneberry70's - Theodore80's - Keith90's - AY00's - Madoff -- who might yet turn out to be the biggest hero in Mets history.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Is Leiter on good terms with the org?, Franco is back in the fold and he was there for the duration on that decade, it should be him.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 They already did Leiter, Franco and Piazza if I'm not mistaken (and I prolly am)My guesses will be Kranepool 60sMazzilli 70sCarter 80sAlfonzo 90sWright 00s

Krane might be a good choice for the 1970s!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 How about Rusty Staub for the 1970's?Keith for the 80's. (This is the toughest call.)It's also hard to decide which decade to put Piazza in. I'd probably have to go with the 00's, which leaves the 90's (an awful decade overall, until the very end) to Fonzie.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Would have gone with Casey for the '60s. There's a face made for bobbleheads.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 The kids love managers. But with Tom assigned, I'd go...hmmm...1970s: Tug1980s: Kid1990s: Mike2000s: JoseThough I still say one per year rather than one per decade.

They could just shrink the statue they've got in the HoF-- perfect mold.I like pairs. (Maybe "interacting" with interlocking bases?)60s: Casey/Throneberry (if they're really going for the spirit of the thing)70s: Seaver/M. Donald Grant80s: Carter/Doc90s: Valentine/Fonzie or Bonilla/Rickey (card-playing, natch)00s: Beltran/Reyes (we're talking alumni, no?)

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I call for a special Joan Whitney Payson bobble!

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 btw, I tweeted this thread in the hopes to draw in new members. Didn't seem to work.
