Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 GAME 1:The Cards -- 16-5 down the stretch (even including a certain four-run blown 9th inning lead) and without Carpenter for the first few games after they needed him for game #162 -- throw Kyle Lohse (14-8, 3.39) up against the tan, rested, and ready Roy Halladay.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 One glance at the CBP masses and I'm rapidly rooting for a meteor.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Are any of those 7 still rooting for the MFPs?http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/35666/rollins-disses-reyes
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Berkman with a 3 run homer in the 1st inning off Halladay starts things off right.

HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 As if Jimmy Rollins would ever be close to a batting title.

Did most of his hits come 'off' the field? ha.hope everyone enjoyed Phillies last win of the season.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 [u:n6iolc5r]GAME 2[/u:n6iolc5r] -- Lee gives up a lead-off triple to Furcal but then gets out of it untainted (K, Pop-out [Albert], and GO)Now, in the bottom of the 1st, Carpenter on short rest is getting his butt kicked. Three runs in and they're not finished yet.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Carpenter was lifted for a pinch hitter in the 4th. Cardinals got 3 that inning but the third out was at the plate so they're still down 1, 4-3.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Arthur Rhoades is a badass.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Cards win game two which is a very nice surprise. Let's go Redbirds.

Left Vegas at 4 ( 7 Mets standard Time) picked up the end of the broadcast of the Brewers, which then cut to Phily mid interview with the catcher (not even mid interview, it was like "How'd it feel as a rookie getting those key hits?...and the pitch by Lee..) and thanks in part to Tony LaRussa's pitching changes, the game lasted almost the entire 5.5 hour trip, ending about 10 miles outside of San Diego. Excuse me while I go give Petco park the finger for not hosting a Mets @ San Diego NLDS while i'm here. Clearly it's the park's fault.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 give Petco a big finger for me too, for having a stupid name.if the Phils were on radio last nite I couldn't find it as 1050 covered the Jets. I wound up instead with Steve's Underground Garage, it was great, and helped me set a new record on my running course.I am also on the road now, at a stopover in OHare en route to Indianapolis tonite. Am gonna try to find a bar showing MFYs_Tigers but Colts on MNF. Doh

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 Hey Tony, Nice move walking Ruiz so as to get Hamels out of the game. Just shit luck that it led to a 3R HR by the PH instead.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Dennis Eckersley's analysis of this game "that's baseball".
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I did pick the Phillies to get bounced by the Brewers anyway, but was pulling for Louis here. Still hopeful.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Cards brought the tying or go-ahead run to the plate about 10 times in the last few innings, seemed like, they had their chances.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Good pitcher's duel with Cardinals up 1-0 after 6. Furball triple in the first led to the only run.
