Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Parnell gives up a leadoff hit.And not to get away from this game, but I'm starting another Acosta thread.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Did anyone ever figure out why they traded for Johnny Gomes?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 As Angelo Dundee once said to Sugar Ray Leonard; "You're blowing it kid"
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Walking Bernadino to get to Zimmerman.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Terry Collins doubling down with the intentional walk here.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 This is not looking good. Not only is it Zimmerman but Parnell HAS TO throw him strikes.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Should I stop watching this?I feel like I should stop watching this.Should I stop watching this?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 That slider's looking so hittable, too.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Broken bat two run single to win it..Duda with an effort but he never looked like catching it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Wow, was Duda too deep considering a single beats you there?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Yeah, Mookie Wilson needs to look into his soul.If we get around to making any more callups, maybe another outfielder to help out in defensive situations.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Fuck Bobby Parnell in his-hard-throwing-but-no-idea-where-the-ball's-going ass.

A shame that the great work of the offense coming back from 5-0 and the great bullpen work of Acosta and Shorty was wasted.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 The other thing to talk about was the Reyes 7th inning sac bunt.On the one hand you can say that it "worked" because the runner bunted over came in for the go-ahead run. On the other the one thing a sac bunt does even if successful is cut down on the big innings and that 'one-and-only-one run strategy wasn't enough in the end.I didn't like it at the time and still don't.btw, that was the second time this year we've lost to the Nats on a cheapie walk-off single.July 31st was the other where an Ian Desmond broken bat dribbler beat us after Hairston had tied up in the top of the 9th with a 2-out solo shot off Drew Storen. Both losses came off Parnell -- both started with a Jesus Flores lead-off single -- both involved a wild-pitch -- both hits came with just one out -- both negated earlier NYM comebacks

The league's leading hitter is up so why are you bunting? Give him a shot to hit one into the gap. Bad managing there. As for the "btw"--I was at each of those so Parnell is not my favorite Met at the moment.

Gee doesn't get off the hook in the blame game just because the Mets tied the game and then took the lead. And as for Terry Collins, he may have control of the locker room in a good way, but he's still a ****bunter. Ordering the league's leading hitter to make an out just before your best mashers are due up: moronic.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Johnny Gomes, 0-33 as a pinch-hitter and we walked him.
