batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 I just reviewed the Wright/Lee play. If it's Wright's third inning tag-out of Carlos Lee in the top of the third on April 19th, then there was no collision, and Lee never landed on Wright. Wright dove at a sliding Lee from behind and tagged him before Lee tagged third. But on the dive, you could clearly see Wright's head snap and, without hitting the dirt, bounce up and down rather violently two or three times.http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN201104190.shtml

And to the right. Back. And to the right. I'll try and post some stills. Although one would assume that the play in question should get aired tonight.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Came up during one of the Snighcasts.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Here are some stills of the Lee/Wright play, now rendered obsolete by the MLB video posted above. The video captures Wright's bobble head better than the pics below. But still.... (Get it? Still? But still ....)

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Looking at those pictures and really can't see how Wright broke his back.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Fuck the team Doctors again. That was a nasty collision when it happened and no one could find this. The 2011 Mets are a mediocre team and cannot withstand these broadside hits.Back stress fractures and the torque of a swing sound like season long misery.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Yeah I had my SC turned to 11 on that post.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 My sarcasm receptor's all wonky. I blame the weather.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 With last night's win...the Mets are 14-13 since Wright went down. Not too shabby.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Speaking of David, has anyone heard anything about how his recovery is coming along?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 He'll be re-examined on June 24. If he is all healed, it will still most likely be at least 3 weeks of rehab before he is back with the big club.If he's back by the end of the All-Star break, it will mean everything from now until then will have gone ideally. I expect August 1st is more likely to be closer to his return.Same for Ike. We may very well have a race between David, Ike and Johan to see who can get back to the big club first.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Ike's the one who pisses me off. WTF are you doing 1) Getting hurt waiting for a popup to come out of the sky2) Taking 2+ months to return from said injury3) Accomplishing both 1 and 2 as a 24-year-old.I want to see some bloody socks from this mutha if and when he makes it back.

I'm not sure it'll take 3 weeks from that point though.
