Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Weather report sucks, looks like a rainout.(EDITED game thread!)
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Rained out.Move the game over one day to the right--Thursday @ 3. No day off for the Mets to frolic in Houston.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 And so it is rained out, rescheduled for 3 pm Thursday.I propose for the sake of Mojo we continue to utilize this thread.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Gives Ike a day to heal, I guess.Or... it's not raining here. Maybe they can play in my backyard.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 bench is strong though. Martinez! Wright!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Predicting a good game for Harris, adapting to his infield perspective and getting a message from smelling Martinez's farts.

There's zero reason to keep Harris over Pridie when Pagan returns.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I feel a good game coming on from the B-Team today. A grand slam maybe...
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Just crazy enough to work.Weather and lunacy permitting, Willie H. in position to be Mets Third Baseman No. 144. The list's notoriety has kind of slacked off since July 21, 2004, for some strange reason.143. Luis Hernandez142. Mike Hessman141. Justin Turner140. Wilson Valdez139. Andy Green138. Fernando Tatis137. David Newhan136. Ruben Gotay135. Damion Easley134. Julio Franco133. Eli Marrero132. Jose Valentin131. Miguel Cairo130. Chris Woodward129. David Wright

Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 The whole point was to give him two -- a game followed by an off day. This is the same only backwards.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I understand the process. My questioning is regarding the need for same.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I would hope that he is at least available to pinch hit.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I predict Willie Harris will hit 9 home runs and impregnate your sister today. Just. You. Wait.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Game already delayed due to weather, with more bad shit forecast, raising the possibility that we'll have to fly out to Denver to determine [crossout:18p010dg]our[/crossout:18p010dg] their playoff seeding at the end of the year.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 mutual off day on May 23rd I believe, Middle of a roadtrip for the Mets, where they fly from NY to Chicago. Probably not a horrible day, although the Sunday game is 8pm right? so it'd be a rough couple of days sleepwise.Rockies fly home from Milwaukee on the 22nd, but they've got a Tuesday double header with the Diamondbacks. Might relish the off day?8/25 is the best choice. 9/8 Mets enroute home from Miami which seems out of the way. Those are the only three options besides them just conceding to save the trouble.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Ceetar--good work. May 22 is a day game. What's the rule about a team playing for consecutive games? Is it 15 is the most w/o approval of the union.Besides the dates you have, each team is off on August 8.

That'd probably be the day then, get it over with if they can. I dunno about the consecutive games though, that might be rough. (21 in 20 days for the Rockies starting tomorrow if they played that day)
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Unless Colorado needs it there is little chance this will be made up.If they don't play its' one more game Ike does not miss.

There's certainly a fair shot that neither team needs it, but the worst case would be playing it 9/29 after the season.

Regardless of whether or not it matters in playoff implications or seeding, MLB doesn't like to give the impression that regular season games are simply disposable to the point where no attempt will be made even though there's still the better part of four months to go in the season.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 If the challenge seems more problematic these days, it is. Because 56% of games are now played in cities where the visiting team won't be returning to the rest of the regular season.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Imagine how it'd be if my proposal of interleague all the time got some love? I know, I know, back to doubleheader sundays with more off days fixes everything.
