Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Congrats, Ashie. Nailed it.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 You know what the key play was? David Wright leading off the bottom of the 7th, fouling off several pitches on the 3-2 count before getting the walk. That's how rallies start.Frigid night at Shea but everything seemed a little warmer after the homer. Was obvious to me from 450+ feet away that the ball was a homer but I guess the default call is to go with the "in play" call and just fix things with the replay afterward.Funny moment in our section after the Wright error and Nickeas throwing Young out stealing, as a fan yells "Wright now owes Nickeas a case of beer!"

Was NOT obvious from TV (or maybe I'm just stupid) and challenging the call didn't even occur to me until Terry came trotting out of the dugout.Once the slo-mo replays ran it was clear it was a HR and so there was little suspense waiting for the umps.Lotsa nice ABs from Wright in the last two nights.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 When I first saw the replay in game speed I would not have even questioned that it was a home run. Pretty obvious though when you watch it in slow motion. That's why I hate lines on the outfield walls. Just put the damn fence where you want it to be, then if it is over the wall it is a home run, if not, too bad.

Learn, Terry, learn!I lay down during Pridie's at-bat, intending to listen to Hayne and Wowie take me home. I fell asleep almost instantly. Woke up freezing at one AM. Thanks, Mets. You outlasted me.
