Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I am still kicking around the possibility of the 8/11 matinee vs. San Diego. Waiting on my job transition timeline to get a little less murky.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Hmmmm, the MFYs also have a matinee tomorrow, theirs is a 1:10 start. I'm wondering if I'm better off taking route 80 across NJ to Citi Field and avoiding the Deegan tomorrow, which would be my usual way into the city. I would be coming in early, like 11:30-ish, maybe I'd be ahead of much of the MFY traffic.Any advice from the locals?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Take I-84 East to I-684 South to the Hutchinson River Parkway South to the Whitestone Bridge.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Gwreck wrote:Take I-84 East to I-684 South to the Hutchinson River Parkway South to the Whitestone Bridge.Agreed - or even Tappan Zee to 287 to the HutchRte 80 to the GWB in from Jersey is also a major route to YSIII so anything that gets you east of that stadium first before diving south is the better plan. The good news is that the Met game should end about 3PM at which point the Yanqui game will be just two hours old and therefore still in the 4th inning giving you plenty of time to avoid that departing crown no matter what route you take.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 I'll be at tonite's game, not sure where yet but you might find me pregame at the Shack, rocking Wonderful Woody.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I'll be there for tonight's debacle.Wish me luck....
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I consider my trips to Philadelphia on the following scale. You too can consider your trip a success if:-You are not violently pushed aside by fan attempting to trespass on field-You are not vomited on-Your sexual orientation is not questioned-You are not threatened with physical assault-The sum of the IQs of the fans (aside from your own party) sitting immediately next to, behind and in front of you exceeds 300.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 The Mets are going to win big tonight, not sure what you're so down about.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 We're going as guests of a law firm with whom D-Dad does business, and we'll be with D-Dad's co-worker and her husband. Fingers crossed, but we should be ok.It would be nice if your prediction comes true Lunchie - my last few games at the CB haven't been so enjoyable....
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 There's a rumor that Sunday's game may be "preponed." That is, played on Saturday (as part of a doubleheader) instead of Sunday because of the impending hurricane weather. I think it's a good idea; beats having the Braves have to come back to New York on a mutual off day. (I think I read that the last such day remaining is September 8.)

They probably want to wait another day or so to have a better idea of the 'cane.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I have tickets with YoungerPooper for Saturday. Should I even consider going?

Should I even consider going?you may get two!I'd wait as long as you can, but it sounds like it's not going to start raining until late. It's a 4pm start, so should be able to get home before it rains. It's Fox too. I wonder if that's part of the reason the Mets haven't doubleheadered it yet.
