TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 The Cards hitters are being very, very agressive against RA.Dickey's pitch-by-pitch performance today:Inning One:Pitch 1: Ground outPitch 2: Ground outPitch 3: Swinging strikePitch 4: Swinging strikePitch 5: Swinging strikeInning Two:Pitch 6: Line outPitch 7: Fly outPitch 8: Ground outInning Three:Pitch 9: Swinging strikePitch 10: Swinging strikePitch 11: Swinging strikePitch 12: DoublePitch 13: Swinging strikePitch 14: Swinging strikePitch 15: Swinging strikePitch 16: Double (RBI)Pitch 17: SinglePitch 18: Swinging strikePitch 19: Swinging strikePitch 20: Swinging strike3IP, 3H, 1R, 0BB, 4K (2Ks against Pujols)20 strikes, no balls2-1 Good Guys in the bottom of the third.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Wow. 20 pitches, 20 swings. 12 misses, and 8 fair balls.Makes for a fast-moving game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 At that rate he should go all nine
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Cool that he got Pujols twice. It's a shame the pitchfx stuff doesn't work for Spring games. You think they'd want to promote the at bat app and actually give it proper pitch/strike counts. no audio, Okajima just had a scoreless inning against the Braves. I'm listening to ATL @ Sox since I do want baseball noise at work today. yah.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 It's idiotic that MLB Gameday live video isn't available for all ST games for free.

And apparently the Android MLB At Bat app doesn't have the video for Spring regardless.no audio, WFAN generally only does weekends, and I guess the Cards radio isn't doing it today either.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 No TV or audio today. I am aware, as we all are, that these games are meaningless but it's preferable to listen or watch them then look for tweets or other updates. Why don't the Mets send an announcer or two to the game and broadcast it over the internet? Guys! doesn't even have to go--use the minor league announcers, it would be fun to hear them. What's the harm in doing this?

What's the harm in doing this?I suspect there are all sorts of red tape type reasons for it. Then again, Ted Berg and Matt Cerrone are already down there (at least right now) Throw up a one-camera feed and just have them talk about the game they're watching. Better than another ep of beer money right?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I've never seen Beer Money but from what you and everybody else has said, you're definitely right!

What's the harm in doing this? Not so much harm, I'm thinking, as it is cost. And it's REALLY not as simple as "let Berg and Cerrone call the game." One streamable, static camera and no PBP might be more doable... but you don't get to see the reasons you're actually watching a ST game (a detailed look at the new prospect's throwing motion, Dickey's pitch sequencing, how that AA stud keeps his shoulder in so long before unloading on the swing, etc.) in any detail.Gameday's live here, so you don't have to work so hard to birddog updates.Also... break up the Nats. They knocked Josh Johnson out of a ST game in less than two innings, and are 3-0, with a host of crooked-number innings already.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Seems to me that a streaming audio webcast is cheap and would get enough listeners to sell a few hammers and validate the cost.

Just because what you said makes sense, that may not be the way things are done.Later
