well, actually I overthunk it last night and wrote a post about it. Now I'm just reiterating my overthinking istead of working. semantics really...

Basically was just wondering if it's really worth trying to build up Johan's arm strength to 100 pitches for a handful of starts.

Well, what I'm suggesting is that they'll need some insurance for Tejada. Maybe that's Luis Hernandez, I don't know. But I'm not sure how often they can keep running the same guys out there.

Perhaps the right move, was seeming inevitable anyway. I'll believe a timetable after he starts running. some random doc saying 3 weeks before the Mets get together and make a plan is worthless.

Lutz has been hurt most of the season..Turner is not going to play SS.. so its Ruben and Luis Hernandez??

Ike Davis and David Wright started out day-to-day too, as I recall.

And yeah, I think it would behoove the Mets to peel their eyes for shortstop options. As of the last few days, the backup has been Willie Harris or somesuch. Let's not get caught with our pants down or ride poor Tejada until he drops, to mix a metaphor.

Well, I'm wearing my blue and purple shades today so I see this as allowing Reyes more time to negotiate and sign his next Mets contract.

Nah, Wright was always at least the DL stint and even that seemed a long shot. They didn't DL him for the first game because he wanted that second opinion, but Terry wouldn't even pinch hit him.

I do think Davis was, but that turned into "2 weeks off" real fast when he couldn't run and still felt pain.

Dickey's been "day to day" and even "will miss his next start" a couple of times this season but hasn't missed a beat. (just for the "everything always gets worse" crowd) Capuano too. (funny, the old guy and the 2-TJ guy have bounced back from aches and pains pretty well) Turner hurt his thumb and didn't require DL time/it didn't fall off. Beltran experienced a set back (way back in Spring Training) and yet showed up right on time.

Or the nuances between strain and pull, and the various grades within those terms, is not something he has bothered to be the master of.

I disagree, if Tejada needs a couple of games, send him down for someone else.

What I think they need is someone that won't embarrass them at SS the rest of the game if they want/need to PH for Tejada in a key 7th/8th inning AB.

Someone must have asked this of Alderson right? Maybe way back when they sent Hu away?
