Parnell has admitted that the ailment makes it hard for him to grip the baseball, which may help to explain his 6.14 ERA and 1.91 WHIP. He was able to appear in Tuesday's game, but it's not clear if the Mets might shut him down for a few days. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/5658/bobby-parnellLaterI say aneuryism.Because why not?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Even in a laugher... Cripes.Mets center fielder Angel Pagan left Thursday's game against the Astros with a pulled muscle in his left side, after running into second baseman Justin Turner on a popup in the fourth inning.Chasing down Hunter Pence's pop to shallow left-center field, Turner backpedaled into Pagan's left side, forcing him to whirl out of the way of further contact. Though he stayed in the game for another two innings, Pagan gave way to a defensive replacement following his at-bat in the bottom of the fifth.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Well, we had a healthy offense for six innings, anyway.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Gary said Parnell does not have an aneurysm, but a localized blood clot. He's taking asprin.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 AAAAAUGH!Angel Pagan will land on the disabled list before Friday's game. Jason Pridie will be activated and is in the lineup over Scott Hairston with the Diamondbacks using a left-handed starter.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 And just when we were getting hot.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Really interesting to see who gets time in centerfield.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Johan "way ahead of schedule" in rehab. He's throwing and junk.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Updating this..Beato with tendinitis.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 On the plus side, Chin-Lung Hu's job (as well as those of Harris, Hairston, and Pridie) is safe for the moment. On the minus side...LobbyMan wrote:The plan to activate Angel Pagan from the disabled list on Saturday has been scrapped. After playing a second full rehab game in the Florida State League on Thursday night, Pagan complained of pain with the strained left oblique that sent him to the disabled list on April 22, Terry Collins said. Pagan was en route to New York to be examined by team doctors. Clearly, a recurrence of discomfort requires a shutdown period, meaning Pagan may now be at least a few weeks from returning. "He played and said he's been feeling fine," Collins said. "And yesterday a couple of guys talked to him and he said he was feeling fine. Last night, after the game, he felt that he could swing. We were hoping he would be here [active] tomorrow. We just felt he wasn't ready for that, and that there was some discomfort and that ... tenderness."
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Chris Young to the 15 day DL.I like this guy and everything and he's good when he pitches but man, maybe he should just pack it in. Guy can't stay on the field.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Per Rubin, MRI of Young's shoulder is not encouraging.I still say it was a good signing. Low-cost, high-upside. At least we got a couple good starts out of him.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 OK, Santana at least five weeks away, probably more like eight. Bonser down. Mejia down. Young looking down.Rotation is Pelfrey-Dickey-Niese-Capuano-Gee.If we need to keep digging, next up is Carrasco, I think. He's two starts into his conversion and still stretching. Schwinden is performing well, but I don't know if it's worth seeing as real.Crazy, maybe, but I'm a-thinking Taylor Buchholz-type thougths.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 My sources on Twitter who have intimate knowledge of people within the Mets fanbase are saying that Young might have and they stress might on condition of anonymity has pitched his last game for the Mets.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Your 'sources'.You crack me up you crazy old Mick, you.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I didn't expect both Chris Young and Chris Capuano would stay healthy this season.

Give him off Wednesday and let him have the back to back days off, or tell him not to swing or something. you know..rest the injury and let it heal? maybe? I'm not yet worried about Wright. he's not exactly known for great Aprils. Remember his homerless, .244 avg April in 2007, a year that he finishd 4th in MVP voting and may have indeed won if the Mets didn't collapse?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Ed Coleman thinks Wright just needs a blow..........all that swinging and missing probably has him banged up.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Well, that's why there's a BJ's Clubhouse at Citi Field.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Maybe he should ask Pridie to bring his girlfriend to work..

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Young done for 2011. Four games started, three of them pitched very well, two of them intensely memorable -- 3-for-3 hitting in one, providing backdrop for We Got Bin Laden announcement in the other.$1.1 million. Nice work if you can get it.
