Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Perfect. I've already allocated that extra $$ for Cliff Lee. I hear the asking price went up after last night.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I believe that had K-Rod not pitched in the game immediately following the incident, the arbitrator would have relieved the Mets from paying the remainder of K-Rod's 2010 salary. No brainer slam dunk. K-Rod still might've forfeited the rest of his 2010 salary had the two sides gone to arbitration, but K-rod pitching the day after the fight gave the Union an opening to present medical evidence demonstrating that K-Rod could not have sustained a season ending injury from the brawl.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I suppose this all isn't over yet as the possibility of conviction of a crime and jail time hangs over his head, perhaps setting up a scenario of contract violation and/or future suspensions without pay.Willets Point wrote:Can we trade him now? We're certainly free to TRY to trade him now - although his questionable future (see above ^) large contract and large possibly automatic option still loom.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 A niggling issue, but he didn't pitch the day after the fight. He spent the day after the fight in the pokey at Shea during a day game, before being arraigned. He then served a two-game suspension, and appeared again on August 14.But I don't know what the issue is. Had he not pitched, the outcome would have been the same as it actually now is?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 From Adam Rubin's piece on ESPN.com:Rodriguez still has misdemeanor criminal charges pending that could result in a maximum of two years in jail. However, criminal attorney Christopher Booth recently said he expected that matter to be settled before the next scheduled hearing in Queens Criminal Court on Nov. 10.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 J. Wilpon's statement referred to him as "Frankie" as opposed to the more formal Francisco. Something tells me he's the closer here next year. Closers need short memories, as do teams stuck with anger-management students.bmfc and I were at the game when he was used post-arrest. What an absolutely ridiculous insertion by J. Manuel.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I don't agree with it being ridiculous. I thought it was a smart move on Jerry's part to just get him in a game asap, to get his feet wet, for lack of a better term...

Your guess is as good as mine. I can come up with some hypothetical scenarios, though.
